Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Scheme (DRES)

At least pushed though and didn’t give up

19/20

16 lol lol :joy:

Smartarse me. 20/20. But I’m rubbish at flying.

Another smart arse here 20/20.

This is a challenge for the worst to make me feel better DID ANYONE GET LOWER THAN 16

16 is a pass

  1. Same as the number of bits my drone normally ends up in.

This is not good somebody come forward

19/20

19/20 got my name wrong although I will say one or two of the choices were rather tricky to understand. I fell over on the rock concert in the field one, afraid I didn’t read the choices properly

Moved your post over to existing thread @gino1340

Dronesafe existed long before the CAA registration scheme.

Sadly dronesafe is not adequate and to legally fly you must be registered with the CAA.

@gino1340

Can you confirm exactly where you registered?

If you went through dronesafe.uk/registration/ it would have taken you to CAA site and you should have received 2 codes when you registered. One FLY- and other OP-.

If so you are good to go.

If you registered at dronesaferegister.org.uk/ you will need to register again with the CAA.

Just a thought - why are we being advised that the operator ID may change at yearly renewal? I’m no data processing expert but for the CAA it would seem to add an extra task or two to updating the box that shows next renewal due and for me is an unnecessary complication - peeling off labels and cleaning surfaces just to attach another label identical apart from the operator code.

My driver number has stayed constant since I passed the test in the days of the little red licence book, through the three fold paper and now into the photocard era. What prevents my operator id staying constant?

The shambolic and delayed implementation of this ludicrous scheme has more than a touch of a whiff of Chris Grayling about it!

A lack of foresight

I’m wondering if it’s to avoid unscrupulous operators using ID numbers they found on online long term.

Bit like cloned cars where people use other peoples registration numbers to commit crime.

They have designed it so it’s pretty much impossible to guess another valid ID so could possibly be the reason.

This isn’t the world of industry, this is licences to print money for contractors.

Department - ‘We need xxxxxx’
Contractor - ‘That’ll be £10m’
Department - ‘Heres 20 keep the change’
Contractor - ‘it’s a little late, we need another £20m’
Department - ‘Heres 50 keep the change’

And so on.

And included an API for a few quid more.

I’ve been following your discussions on Twitter about that one

You two are missing a trick! You have the proof that you have to be the highest bidder to get the gig!
