Where are you?

Thanks
I’ll happily travel
Regards
Please allow me to do do a brain/dump; the procedure for me went something like:
Check my drone is in Drone-Hacks’ Birdmap list.
Check the firmware on the drone I have supports the features I desire (FCC radio strength and DJI no fly zone are popular reasons to use Drone-Hacks). The DJI Fly app told me what the drone firmware version was.
Use Grey Arrows full members discount code to purchase.
Download Drone-Hacks software to a Windows computer.
Download DJI Assistant software to the same computer.
Install both these programs.
Reboot.
Run Drone-Hacks software, power up drone, connect it to the computer via USB cable.
Follow the on screen instructions to apply the hack or hacks desired.
I hope this helps?
It honestly doesn’t get any harder than what “BadManners” has laid out.
Worst case scenario, we can always use a remote session onto your computer, which would avoid any travelling and associated costs.
But best way to learn is to dive in there and give it a go. Really good simple YouTube video’s which lay out the process for the less technically minded.
Cheers bud I’ll give it a go
Kind regards
We’re here for you!
Come back and ask questions etc.
oh good , all this is still relevant .
im digesting it all just now . and had a wee swatch at the bird map and downloaded the software.
mini se 01.02.0000 not allowing rollback to 01.01.0000 recomended (on pc version) .
so think im stuck with android apk DH companion which has limited hacks ( signal and india15m)
will prob dive in get a license and try it out once ive done a bit more research.
mini se
Felt a bit naughty wanting fcc as my signal is sometimes hit and miss and can be doing with a bit more to be more pleased with my purchase.
Dont know what the india 15m mod is?
No need for any other height restriction removal or nfz hacks as i want to remain sensible
cheers
also im sure my dji fly app is showing as version 1.6.1
is this a problem ?
all i see is 1.5.1 mentioned???
Not a case of being sensible, the NFZ’s that DJI have are sometimes wrong.
You don’t “have to fly” in a NFZ.
The hack gives you the ability to fly in the areas where you would have to ask DJI to unlock your drone when it shouldn’t actually need to be locked because it shouldn’t be locked anyway.
Choice, it’s a very nice thing to have.
The hack is on the drone not the app, the hack that uses the app for the FCC is Drone Tweaks. But then again it depends upon which model you have.
I think DJI limits the altitude to 15m in India. Imagine how many trees I would hit!
Not really bother about height but Geo zone is of interest.
Hi there only just see yr reply - yes remote session might be a great idea “ Thankyou for the offer “ just trying to get a room refurb finished at home ( then I’ll message you )
And I will need a windows 10 laptop correct ? Not my MacBook Pro ?
Thankyou for all yr support - glad I found this channel / club
Take from it what you like, the idea is to remove DJIs restrictions including the 500 meter limit which allows you fly as you see fit as other drone users do
Hi again
Can you give me a rough percentage how much more distance I gain - on a good day at the moment I get about 2 miles ( VLOS WITH GLASS OF COURSE
) and once this is done I don’t update the firmware once I’ve rolled back ? How about when dji keep changing the app ( updates ? ) sorry for all the questions just trying to get it right ……
Kind regards
Indeed.
This is the only no fly zone I’m concerned about, which is the official exclusion zone around Leeds and Bradford Airport.
But then DJI add all this crap.
And if you think that’s bad take a look at DJI’s NFZ for the Datalink Groundstation, where arming of the drone is disabled anywhere within a five mile radius of the airport.
Unfortunately there is no known way of defeating this.
Don’t buy DJI
I bought the system before DJI had their FlySafe knee jerk reaction. They rolled the NFZ’s into it without telling the users. I got round it by using the PC software on a Windows tablet, but in 2015 DJI dropped the Google Earth API and the software stopped working. The only option was to use the iOS APP, which DJI had sneaked the NFZ’s into.
You know the history better than most. Today I think the DJI NFZ are enforced by the firmware in the drone itself.
The difference is like night and day between the regular CE signal strength vs FCC signal strength. It’s truly amazing. In theory you could fly way way way beyond what is a sensible VLOS distance and have control and the video feedback to your screen.
Percentage difference? For me with a Mini 2, it’s several times the distance, so it’s hundreds of percent!
