Edinburgh Airport flights delayed as drone spotted and police called in

Oh, shit, here we go again. I hope it’s not a drone; at night a drone would be more or less invisible unless it was lit and putting a light on a drone which you are going to be flying illegally is even more stupid than flying in an FRZ. But if it proves to be a drone, I hope they are able to bring the perp to justice.

At least it’s not Gatwick in the middle of the xmas rush!

07:50 in the morning according to the article. I bet it was a pigeon with lights on. :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Starting to get light even up there, then. Even in the dark a drone can be detected electronically, though.

Did you read the article?

“Enquiries were carried out and a 39-year-old man will be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident. The drone has been seized.”

Ah. Good, hope the fine is meaninful.

Hi guys i think this would not have happened if we still had geo zone on the drones

Unless it wasn’t a DJI toy :man_shrugging:

The more of these twats that fly irresponsibly the more likelihood we are going to be subject to tougher regulations.

I really hope they throw the book at him and make ia big example of him. Needs to be done in cases like this so it might deter other idiots from thinking about it or doing it.
It’s people doing things like this that contribute to ruining our hobby.

Not really. DJI geo zones were renound for being extremely inaccurate.

And I’m sure I remember reading that mods were available to circumnavigate such things :person_shrugging:

A drone is the go to complaint. Normally blamed before they find out exactly what it really is.

And it’s always one of these according the the pictures the media release

Yeah, I’d noticed that! Don’t think anyone flies them anymore, do they?

Based on ?

Haven’t noticed anyone here talking about flying them and they seem to feature in older videos online. General impression not scientific survey. The same stock image seems to come up continually in the media to illustrate any article about drones except in Ukraine.
