After getting off to a great start to the day off to fly a few locations first one went great, then on to the second one that was also going great then being to over confident them B&£@“£( tree branches caught me out ! it at to happen sooner or later but wasn’t expecting it today, the drone was literally 20-30 foot above my head & the same in horizontal distance clip crunch snap bang tumble down oh dear !!! given it a good pre accident inspection front right arm motor is snapped off & back right leg is twisted or it’s come out of socket, cleaned it up booted it up checked all gimbal & everything & all seems ok not a blemish on it apart from the broken arm ( which I’m quite surprised ) don’t have care refresh silly me, so thinking …… A do I send it off to drone doctor, B send it to DJI pay them instead, C put it up for sale spares or repair, D get a Mavic 3 pro which I’ve been toying with anyway hmmm …
How mad you should say that, whilst driving home I thought that place is cursed …… nah user error plain & simple, I mean tbh the drone was that close to me id have been better holding it in my hand,
That’s looking a bit sad Richard. I’d try DJI, they seem to replace them for less than you’d expect. On the other hand, soon a good time to buy the Mavic 3 Pro! The Mavic 4 looks a bit of a fat boy, though no doubt will be great.
Thanks Bruce
Yes I’ve thought of all those options ie M 3 Pro or maybe cheaper to send to DJI in the hope I’ll pay them & they’ll hopefully send one that’s ready, could be worse just a headache I could do without right about now, but it’s not the end of the world ( although my head says different ) but no it can be replaced either way, no harm done I was being sensible as said above just got over confident & relied on the drone bleeping at me / sensors ( which it did ) throughout the flight but I think I may have rose up slightly underneath the tree man error
Easily done, I was in a beechwood last year, and nudged the Air 2S a bit close, luckily very fine branches, and it stayed up. Still on my original set of props after 3 years, though I probably shouldn’t say that Good luck sorting it out.
Thank you mate, I only said to myself when blowing the dust off last night ‘ oooooh these props have been on a year ‘ although checked from time to time, I shouldn’t have thought it
However then there’s the ifs & buts after, was saying to myself all the way home had I have had tele lenses I wouldn’t have had to fly so close & encounter the tree( trees ) …
I feel your pain Rich, it’s a gut wrenching feeling when it happens.
You would still get good money sold as broken as parts always needed.
I would attempt to fix everything on the drone but legs would be a pain as it’s obviously fitted by dwarf Chinamen with needle fingers as you have to be a expert at soldering in a tight awkward space.
I’ve not tried it myself or seen it done or would be a reliability factor, legs is very easy to replace itself but maybe cut wires closed to old legs then solder the wires together wrap and tuck into a suitable place and dab of hot glue could work, buy from Ali express as there much cheaper.
Cheers Mark
Yes me fixing it is definitely out the question, I’m gonna sleep on it for the night as it’s weekend anyway so I’m not gonna get anywhere today or tomorrow, although I’m impatient & devil says go get another one but I just can’t, with the soon to be released M4 Pro ( not that I fancy the look of that ) but meaning these prices are going to tumble & are all ready as you probably know, it’ll be ok one way or the other, I felt totally fine when it happened I was like ‘ ah well ‘, then as the day went on I felt crap I had to hide it out of sight out of mind kinda thing, hey ho unfortunately & as I’ve said above I’m very confident with flying but I let my guard down more so I was literally a few feet from the drone what could possibly go wrong,
Do you remember the Rice Krispies advert Snack Crackle Pop that was it !
