Fly by wire (fibre optic) for unjammable drone warfare

[GVG_Air]

@JockyB

12 miles of fibre trailing behind it, over trees, buildings etc. So what happens if you fly out over trees etc , 7 miles out then return home with the fibre entwined in branches/ twigs etc ?

I think you’ve hit the crux of it there: drones that fly FO are only going one way!

@Sparky

These drones don’t come home

Ahh ( never thought of that) Works out a pretty expensive way of obtaining intel

But a very inexpensive way of destroying high value enemy equipment (fast jets, hels, AFVs, etc)

A pair of scissors and it’s f****d

That old chestnut! I remember some wag said the same about MILAN in the 80s

[UAVShipSpotter]

Whoever said scissors is spot on. They have found the fibre optic drones kryptonite

Yes, Russian video. Those Russian soldiers may have got lucky, but generally it will be impossible to find a transparent cable, less than a tenth of a millimetre thick, during the time it takes to kill a tank.
