Flying in Malta

I enquired as I’m off to Malta in November as got this reply:

del

I hit the link and registered. Required insurance and passport details AND prior information on flight trips!
Also costs €25 per annum to register!

tmcad.idronect.com

Did it anyway. I’ll let you know how I get on…

How did it go? (ignore that you said November :joy:)

Looks like now you need to register (even if registered elsewhere in Europe) and pay a fee. Insurance is compulsory.

Plus every flight needs to be requested.

Also a height limit of 50m!

Going to be there for a few days next week and wondering if I will take my Mini 3 Pro

Exposing my naivety here, but Insurance? Like how, what, who?! #don’t judge

You may have gone now @DroneGeek ?

Regards,

Andy

Just got my EASA before I go to Malta in a couple of weeks. It was definitely harder than the CAA exam, much more comprehensive around regulations, drone classes, privacy etc. Only got 80% but a pass is a pass.
Pity it doesn’t tell you which questions you got wrong so you can review / improve your knowledge

@grandad1950 I’ve moved your post here, lots more info on insurance requirements and requesting permissions to fly

And congratulations on the pass ;o)

Well done.

You will need insurance to fly.

According to this page, it appears that like Portugal they wish to know about each flight in advance.

This costs 25 euros for a year or €10 for 2 months to register.

I decided to leave the drone at home on my trip as I was pretty much only going to be in a hotel for a few days and not exploring.

The portal for flights can be found here.

Thanks everyone ,some great info And links.
