Flying your drone in Spain

It does in Cyprus, and is in English (and cheaper than Ireland, and is valid for longer.)

Hi, I found it as clear as mud on the AESA website, it wasn’t in English, and translating via Google wasn’t really an option.
I presume you have registered and input all your details and been able to create the pdf form, that you can print?
As you say, you should then take this to a post office; only problem is that the post office I went to didn’t understand the form, just stamped it and said “adios” so no operator ID!
I think there’s a foreigner non clave option to sign the forms now? Maybe try that?
You’re best emailing them I feel as they respond better (maybe easier for translation?)
But you have to remember it’s Spain and nothing happens fast if it’s concerning application forms!

In the end I registered in Ireland - and made that my first EU drone flight before travelling to Spain

Please can anyone advise how I get registered and what training I need to fly in Spain. I just seem to go around in circles on the internet… Or end up trying to read Spanish when trying to register. I still don’t even know if I need an online course and test and if it’s free or costs… Please can anyone advise and point me in the right direction?

I’ll be looking to fly a Mavic 2 Pro.

There is more legislation on drones than guns… Yet not one death by hobbyists drone!

Thanks.
James

You can do the Irish drone test ( at least it’s in English) to register with the EU.
Might also be an idea to download/ install the ENAIRE app for Spanish no fly zones ( much like Altitude Angel )

Thanks.

Ironically, I’ve found the French registration site which has the course and test in English. I’m definitely not starting it now… But will get going on it tomorrow.

Been recommending the French one for ages. In English, straightforward and free.

Funny… If the drone burns, then the tag ain’t going to be attached to much!

Hi
Ive just registered with the Irish aviation authority and going to Valencia 31/05/2023 i have eu insurance, is this the only requirement i need or is there anything else i need to do regarding registration in Spain?
Also is there any English flight restriction maps as all i can find are all in Spanish.
Any info will be much appreciated.

Just been looking on the ENAIRE website and totally confused ? Site keeps crashing and info is complicated, very few places to allow flying in the area i am in (Valencia) and anywere there is something of intrest is in a national park which prohibits flight. Complete waste of time bringing my drone here. The ENAIRE app is only in Spanish, the English version on their website keeps crashing and is useless.

Probably your device, works fine for me

Mine automatically translates.

Maybe because I am in the UK.

Try running a VPN to pretend that you are still in the UK.

Just a thought

Will try and let you know

Given up on flying near Valencia as it all seems to be red and controlled air space, will keep my drone in UK

I’ve only just got my drone June 23 so a bit late to the party.

Did you ever find out how to register your drone? I’m getting the same problem as you over a year later with no drop down option for the uk.

I ended up doing it through France - had to pass a simple online course and then applied for EU registration , this allows flying in Spain, although I was in Malloca which has massive nature reserves where no flying is allowed!

Did you find anywhere else to fly as i’m going to Valencia next week?

I have an EASA operator ID and flyer ID as well as the A2 c of c for EASA states. FPVUK insurance covers EU, so I thought I had everything sorted…then I looked at the ENAIRE map (not an app, but a website)…Pretty much everywhere is no fly without permissions, has anyone who is not fluent in Spanish actually managed to get such permissions?

Hi @photopod I’ve moved your post to this thread that has all the useful information regarding Flying in Spain.

Hopefully you find everything you need to know above, but ask again for any additional information needed. :+1:
