I think my biggest take away from this comp is how much you need to tune yourself into your rates. Learning how much roll you need to actually get the quad upside-down without over shooting or under cutting it and how much backwards pitch to give it to level it back out before you stack it into the ground.
I agree with that. I’ve tried it with 3 of my quads so far.
My 4inch does the highest loops with a small movement of the sticks - weirdly it seems faster than the 5 inchers.
Enjoying it though. It’s been a good learning experience
Yeah, the v1 nazgul that I got converted from analogue to DJI must have had a custom tune from the ebayer I bought it from. With the 2750kv motors It felt like it just wanted to “go” felt really aggressive. When I replaced the ESC with the same one as the Nazgul v2 (and still learning Betaflight) altho the V2 has 2450kv motor i took all the rates from it and put them on the v1. Now it deffo flys better for me. Doesn’t feel like it wants to rip my head off.
Due to it being smaller it has less distance to cover on all axis so this will be portrayed as being faster as it will take less time to complete a full rotation. #physics
Also get more hang time.
I’ve not even started playing with pids yet…
My entry.
Only a few practice runs before this. A little wobble at the end. But I’m not unhappy with it.
3" Armattan Gecko.
Keep at it mate . Camera looks impressive
Practice makes perfect Nick, it does get easier the more you try How did the Micro 4" build go in the end man?
What’s the kwad?
Still on the bench mate, not far off now …
I went down the power station after work as to practice, and I can’t believe I actually pulled 1 off. Mind you it cost me a couple of props and an antenna getting there.
The only problem I have is I forgot to put the sd card back in my goggles so no footage. But I’m down there again in the morning so should be able to post if all goes to plan:+1:t3:.
Just a visual on the build just waiting on a few bits to finish it. I have got 1 issue, the pig tail is far to long so need to have a think about the best way forward 🤷
What sort of time? I might pop down. Assuming you’re talking about Willington.
Will be around 10 probably there for an hour to 2
There is a fair bit of space here Nick. Albeit concrete. This area has been walked looking for a quad. Just get some height. 180 roll, 180 pitch back.
Try 180 roll then 180 roll to start with. That way you go upside down, then the right way up. Get used to the hang time.
@BigDog you could also slow down your rates and add some Expo on the pitch and roll axis to smooth out the jerkyness
Lol you sure you wasn’t there earlier as that’s exactly the area I was in
I figured if I did miss judge it and crashed (which I did a number of times ) into the saplings which would brace my fall.
Been there before, bloody annoying lol Good luck tomorrow Don’t forget to kill the throttle completely when you go upside down or it just powers you straight at the floor (been there before too
)
