Lucky dude
I rarely post anything on Facebook because there’s always drone police keyboard warriors with something negative to say really Facebook is full of em. That’s why I joined the Grey arrows, fantastic bunch of people on here.

I must admit that I post my videos on FB and as yet have not had a wrong word but I have had offers of jobs.
The police vehicles were there to arrest a man committing a fire arms offence, assisted by the drone unit to give an aerial view of the area, it’s a different story from the drone flying over chesterfield
Totally agree with you on all points Frank
Earlier today I took the opportunity to visit nearby Wimbleball Lake here in Somerset with intention of getting some nice aerial shots. I checked Airmap and Drone assist to see if there were any restrictions…none other than the usual common sense and following the drone code (of course). Upon arrival I checked local guidance and rules for the area and there was no mention of aerial photography or drones. Before launching I checked with a member of staff who seemed unsure but claimed I needed private insurance and express permission to do so!?
I pointed out what I planned but to no avail, the irony is that on their website it has three promotional videos all taken by drone.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Here in particular or in general?
I go personally with the theory of its there isn’t a NFZ in place I’m gonna fly and see what happens, as long as you follow the drone code, what’s the worst that could happen?
Shame looks a nice site

Interesting, I was planning on flying here the weekend,
think it’s NT though, could be wrong
It’s not NT although one part of the lake is a wildlife sanctuary. Not even board and kayak users can go there. The lake is private property and the public pay to use the lake for water sports, a separate payment for parking.
In general as I am interested in others experience.
In that case we will fly
Found this for wimbleball/ national park
“We have received complaints from the public, farmers, landowners and local communities regarding the irresponsible use of drones in the National Park and, in partnership with the police, have dealt with incidents of potentially dangerous use of these machines.
Requests for the use of drones by qualified and insured pilots (operating under Civil Aviation Authority regulations)”
Honestly this would stop me.
Sadly some idiots will spoil it for us
I’m heading there possibly Saturday and planing very much on getting up in the air.
It is a huge area and I wouldn’t fly anywhere near that small part of the lake clearly defined by a roadbridge.
Only once. I took myself up to the Falkirk Wheel a couple of years ago. Like you, checked for any restrictions before I went and its was all good. Checked the Scottish Canals website in case they would have a problem. Instead of no mention, they had a page which specifically stated that non-commercial flights were welcomed so long as you obeyed the CAA legislation. All good.
Had been flying for about ten minutes when a woman in hi-viz and a hardhat approached (swear to God she even had a clipboard) and told me that drones weren’t allowed on Scottish Canals property. I pointed out that the website said otherwise, but she told me I was wrong and that she was their “drone officer”. I’d got the footage I went for and was already on my way to land when she came over, so I didn’t argue… but I did send them an email when I got home suggesting their “drone officer” needed to read their drone policies.
If i get anyone like that I pull phone out and film them they hate that
and normally walk away or be very polite or really rude (even better)
