Furness Abbey, or St. Mary of Furness, is a former Catholic monastery located to the north of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The abbey dates back to 1123 and was once the second-wealthiest and most powerful Cistercian monastery in the country, behind Fountains Abbey, prior to its dissolution during the English Reformation. The abbey contains a number of individual Grade I Listed Buildings and is a Scheduled Monument.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 17/06/2023. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

I want to fly here @markas, have you got any other tips or advice?

It was an evening when I visited, was very quiet just the odd dog walker around. Parking right next to the Abbey and no bother from anyone whilst I was there to be honest.

I live reasonably close by so I’ll certainly give this area a go. Thanks for the info.
