GADC Fpv Challenge “ CTRL - Z “ - Winner Announced

The challenge shall run from 29th January 00,01 hours till 26th Febuary 22,00 hours, But as previous we can always extend when where needed .

Set out below by @ORB_FPV please read

Dear all, let’s keep it simple and basic still - we have plenty of time to go to the power loops, wall rides and other fun challenges.

The challenge I suggest will have a few advantages

  • get to know the inertia of your quad
  • understand your rates (THIS IS KEY for acro  ) if you want more information on that specific - just ask - imho, the best way to understand that for those of you who are starting and using standard rates, is to try in simulators)

So the next challenge is “Ctrl-Z”, in which you need to do an inverted loopback.

An inverted lookback in FPV acro is a, freestyle trick where the pilot flies high, flips the drone completely upside down (180-degree pitch) while maintaining forward momentum, holds that inverted position while looking “back” at where they came from, and then completes the flip to upright. It is a segmented, graceful maneuver that, when done correctly, combines high-speed movement with a momentary, gravity-defying “float” while upside down.

The video can be cut or a whole pack, but try to say where the figure you submit is (timecode).

Example :down_arrow:

Now this is interesting for beginner, intermediate and advanced pilots. The better you are, the lower, faster and most important the LONGER (cough cough - don’t forget Grey Arrows has a dedicated crash thread… don’t erase your video by shame! :-D) you should execute it. If you are not confident, just make sure you have enough speed (and altitude!!!) to give this inverted floating impression and good rates to stop as perfectly horizontal as you can.
Make sure you do it on a flat land and far away from anyone or from trees…!

RULES
#1 You the pilot should share a continuous video of this challenge (not a snipped and joined video),
#2 please kindly state at the top of your entry ( this is my entry ) with time date & location,
#3 please state the aircraft/Fpv used,
#4 upload your video via YouTube or Vimeo, if at anytime you would like to change your entry please delete the old one & post the new one, also feel free to add anything with your entry that maybe of interest,

In the “ hopefully unlikely “ event of dispute the original footage maybe required, failure to do so may result in your entry being withdrawn !

This is your challenge so feel free to chat, bant, rant as much as you like or help each other if where when needed but please try to keep it on topic, the rules are very simple as above & below, I look forward to your entries enjoy.
If your new to the challenges you can see what goes on Here

All flights carried out are the sole responsibility of the flyer as per the drone code & any permissions that maybe needed, enjoy & may the force be with you ! :slightly_smiling_face:

Weather dos not like the short timescales …

So - not sure how it happened but it stopped raining mid morning and we even had some blue sky for a couple of hours (fear not - it is raining again already )
Managed to sort out a few 2S batteries just in time - so rushed to get an entry in for the challenge (who knows when the weather will again be somehow favorable )

Drone: Kayoumini 2.5"

Time flies and the weather does not help. Any chance to delay this challenge to allow more entries?

As always mentioned

I no the weather has been a right mare of late for sure, however even before the weather I’ve noticed quite a big decline in entries, challenges to hard for some ? Or maybe just not for all ? It’s quite a lot of faff setting this up for such little reward with only a few entries at the end of it,
As said above we can always extend no problem but would be great to see a few more get involved especially the ones that have made entries earlier on when this originally kicked off,
See how this one pans out & if entries pick up great, if not “ maybe “ we’ll have to go back to the drawing board for those that do get involved & see if we can think something up to try to spin things around quicker challenge wise rather than days weeks on end with very few getting involved if that makes sense .

I imagine the number of entries is impacted by the weather. I doubt anyone will want to fly their FPV in wet weather (most have open circuit boards, that are susceptible to water damage) and the cold temperatures have a negative impact on LiPo batteries, 1s & 2s drones already have a minimal flight time (<3-4 minutes) in good weather and cold temperatures can see that reduced by as much as 50%.

Once we get into the spring and summer months, I’m sure numbers will increase.

i think i am starting to forget to fly how long its been , like you say in was out yesterday with my r8 1s 450 lipo got about 2 mins then gave up after just missing puddles on landing !!!

Been wanting to try this one but for me as mentioned, it’s mainly the weather this time. And not one I can easily do with the tinywhoop either. My 3.5" is hanging above my desk and I’m itching to fly it but the stars have not aligned.

Happy to leave as running ( extended ) until there are sufficient entries & everyone is happy ! :slightly_smiling_face:

I should have my entry in the next two week ends

Finally got to fly briefly in between the rain! Tried it on a couple of quads. I got the best hang time on my 2" which surprised me a little. I thought the heavier quads would be better for this.
This is my entry.
