GADC Pilots' Calendar Competition - Vote for December's Winner

I agree the picture should stay.

A: The pilot deemed it was obvious enough to submit.
B: The Committee deemed it was obvious enough to include in the poll*
C: Majority of the voters deemed it was obvious enough by voting for it.

I would like to see some self restraint from pilots to only submit ‘obvious’ in flight pictures, and for voters to remember they are voting for such obvious in flight pictures.

*Appreciate committee are only here to put it all together and it’s up to members to sort themselves and their voting out.

I agree the result should stand, it was voted the top pic so nothing should change that.
I would agree with Ade though…

I agree the picture should stay.
Just an observation for the future
Not meant in anyway to disrespect the winning entry, It’s a great photo :+1:

Sorry folks (especially the @Challenges_Committee), didn’t mean to cause controversy with the very first month of this competition.

For me, the best part of this hobby is being able to easily get a camera somewhere that would normally be beyond my reach - whether it be too dangerous, too complicated or just too much effort. That might be 400ft above a forest or 8ft above an ice-cold mill pond.

I did (and do) think the picture I entered was pretty obviously taken with a drone in flight but I acknowledge that a lot of that will come from knowing the location. I suspect the same could be said for a lot of pictures taken with a drone that could also have been taken from a convenient cliff top, building, or cherry picker, but if the consensus is that this particular one is too close to the mark then I’m happy to withdraw it and try my luck for another month.

Personally, my vote was and would still be for @Drumsagard ’s excellent shot of the Christmas market in George Square… even if it could’ve been taken from the roof of City Chambers!:face_with_hand_over_mouth::joy:

I wouldn’t fret Joe.

We are all suffering from cabin fever, confined to barracks for long periods due to the weather. So the occasional disagreements break out although they do appear to be rather politely conducted!

Absolutely no need to withdraw it Joe, it was top photo fair and square :+1:

I did get a bit too close at one point :joy:

Worth it though. It’s great

I did think if that photo hadn’t been taken by a drone you would have had mighty cold feet…

Photo looked good to me… I would be proud to have taken it…
is it legit… id say yes… should you withdraw? Noo.

I’m still new to GADC, but to me its run on gentlemen’s rules. no need to disagree over this sort of thing, Life is too short. much too short and getting shorter every day.
Besides, you were voted for fair and square.

I do love some of the discussions in GADC.

In this thread there are murmurings about the prizewinning picture not meeting the standards of “obvious drone flight” yet in the 5x5 competition there are similar murmurings about 100 feet AGl being rather high for displaying obvious flight characteristics …

As the Inuit found when he set fire to his boat for warmth - you can’t have your kayak and heat it
