GADC website homepage? Re Android "Back" button

Obviously not. Please … read the OP - look at the two videos - again.

Since you can’t see the whole crux of the OP, let me explain …

  • In the vid in the OP … he goes from the home page to a category and then to a thread in that category and then clicks the back button. It then returns to the home page.
  • For me, and logically, if I go from the home page to a category and then to a thread in that category and then click the back button it only returns to the category … NOT to the home page.
This is both logical and also how it works on a laptop/computer.

Soz boss. You’re right.

YouTube is your friend, we took the decision to stop video uploads over a year ago ;o)

No back to thread :+1:

How strange. I mean, that’s what should happen, so strange it’s leaping from the initial thread to the home screen. :man_shrugging:

Its ok I can live with it.

Something similar would happen with Amazon if viewing expanded questions and hit back button I have to be patient and it will realign back to ¾ down page to questions but if I touch screen it would goto top of page again and I have to scroll down to where I left off from.

This is what I understood from it and I came here to add my +1 for Chrome on an Honor 10 Lite on Android. To be absolutely clear, here’s the behaviour:

  1. From home page in ‘Latest’ ‘Categories’ mode, go directly to a thread (not a category), click back and you’ll be returned to the top of the home page. This is annoying if the thread you clicked on was a way down the page.
  2. From the home page in ‘Latest’ ‘Categories’ mode, click on a category, click on a thread, click back and you’ll be returned to the category at the position of the thread you clicked on. Click back again and you’ll be taken to the top of the home page, not the position of the category you clicked on.

Again, it’s just been one of those niggles I’ve lived with, but seeing as someone brought it up…

Although the page is rendered differently on PC (Win10+Chrome) as there is one column for the categories and one for the latest threads, the behaviour is the same. Scroll position is maintained when going back and forth between category and threads, but returning to the home page always puts you at the top of the page. I suspect, as Rich says, this is an underlying limitation of the forum software and we’re just going to have to live with it.

Thankyou that’s exactly the way it goes you elegantly said it correctly :+1: I had to use a video :rofl:

OK. I have to correct myself here. I thought I was in ‘Latest’ mode because when I tapped the burger menu, ‘Latest’ was highlighted. Also, the combo box at the top of the page reads, ‘Latest (106)’. However, it seems this is how it looks when you are in ‘Categories’ mode.

Even though ‘Latest (106)’ seems to be the selected option in the combo box, if you select it, the view will change to list only the latest posts, with no categories. ‘Categories’ also now appears as an option in the combo box. :person_facepalming:

If you are in this mode, navigating back from a thread will indeed put you back to the position in the list you came from.

So it’s just an issue with the ‘Categories’ view.

Yes but to me wee bit messy for my old eyes.:disguised_face:

Its finally working properly back and forth without it jumping to the top.:clap::clap::clap:

Nothing changed at my end. :+1:
