General 3D printing chit chat

My v2 neo pretty much worked out the box. The auto bed leveling is a godsend. The only trouble i have is when i change filament from orange back to my usual grey, (both sunlu pla) where i get a blob of orange that clogs the hotend unless i do a coolish pull. Oh and the magnetic bed needed replacing after 14 kg of filament. Granted nothing like the X1 but a solid workhorse provided you keep it nice and tight. Decent quality up to around 75 m/s.

Well here is the newbie. Not new to owning one but new to the creation. Got a 3d printer just sitting here and I am going to be making a very complex item. Well actually, 3 items. A box (well three boxes).

I tried before and being a total newbie to it It got a little fidgety. I also have to work out what thickness I should be making the walls of these boxes. Need to measure them but they are not the biggest in the world.

If you were to lay a large mobile phone on the table that would be the approx shape and then tilt it on the side that would be about the right height. Hopefully going to try to do some sort of lid that would hinge but at the moment not sure how strong that would be. It is to hold a couple of keypads and cable in the one box and drink holders in the other two boxes. Cardboard boxes have gone past their shelf life now and are not not keeping shape.
To many of you this will beā€¦ jeez just draw them and stick em together. I am new to this on did the print of the test things. I did however make a hinged cover for @foleymrs light board for her diamond painting and in honestly I still can not believe I managed to do that.
So please be kind. This is big for me but basic for both of you but I thought I would share this with you. Just got to pop out then will have a go at some point.

Try searching for boxes on Printables.com or Thingiverse.com, I am sure you will find plenty of boxes that will suit your needs
Or they might give you some ideas to design your own

I prefer glass, but to be fair I tend to print in a raft as I like the more consistent surface finish and not super smooth from a heated bed.
