Hi, not far from Yardley, any good places to fly around here? Not really looked into it since the pre covid.
Problem with sheldon/yardley they are right on top of the airport. Not that you can’t fly just need to phone ATC every time.
A fair few of us have put some pins on the map around Birmingham to give you some ideas.
mainly fly in sutton park although you are meant to be part of the model club. i fly the opposite end of the park though
do you phone atc? i go through flysafe website, draw a polygon and allows me to take off. thats only flying in my back yard ![]()
How would the airport know there’s a drone flying about otherwise? (regardless of height if you’re in your back garden then plane obviously ain’t gonna crash into it, although curiously, someone has been complaining on the West Midlands Drone Club Facebook page about a drone flying around gardens in the FRZ recently, is it you, lol)
Does DJI talk to the airport? Or are DJI assuming you’ve took the responsibility to talk to the airport so are unlocking so you can fly with assumed ATC permissions. I think that’s what the ‘you take full liability’ warning is about when you unlock.
Nope dont fly across gardens literally 10 metres off the ground hovering if ny boundary. I did see a drone come from the left of ny back garden and cross 50-75 metres the other day. Was fairly high too, would say close to the max altitude.
I save myself till i can get out properly.
