Greetings from Nottingham

Hi Flyers. My name is Raymond, and I recently acquired my first drone, a DJI Mini SE. I have been an amateur videographer for years, and have always fancied adding a vertical dimension. So my main interest is getting good establishing shots to enhance my little video projects.

Love the drone, however lowly it is. First big test is at Bolton Castle this September, when I am doing the video work for the ‘Medieval Music in the Dales’ festival. This is mostly about recording live music, but the location cries out for some scenic drone work.

Look forward to exchanging ideas with you all. I should also mention that I am a man of advancing years :santa:

I spent many a happy holiday in my teens at Castle Bolton, great location.

Welcome to GADC Raymond :+1: :+1:

Hi Raymond, welcome from the Black Country.
You might want to watch out for low flying jets at Castle Bolton, I was there a few years ago, and a Tornado went past the castle at minimal altitude and at a great rate of knots.

So, “Beware of low-flying crabs”. Wilco!

Scared the crap out of the missus, shot past the main hall windows with wings swept all the way back, really giving it some!

Yeah! I was wondering what the falcons and owls they have make of it? Perhaps they are used to it.

My planning checklist will certainly include checking NOTAMS, though just ‘being prepared’ with a plan of action already in mind is probably the most useful safeguard by the look of it.
