Hi all, I live in York and its my first year of drone flying. I bought an Air 2S at the beginning of the year THEN realised the restrictions so have been flying it at our caravan in the North lakes where it is easy to be miles not meters from anyone. Very interested in buying a mini 2 or FPV now and joining you all at meets! Also interested in learning more about photo processing to get the most out of the photos i’ve taken, I’ve been looking at the posts where you all take the same photo and process it and some of the results are really impressive!
Hi and welcome to the club, I am too in North York’s, Sherburn in Elmet, I find it good to fly at the Knavesmire, plenty of space and you will be well clear of people, the large area where they park coaches on race days
Hi @AdamD and welcome to Grey Arrows
I’m not a million miles from you, and commute to York for work. Loads of places to fly around us, I have the Mini 2 and FPV, we often do Yorkshire meets.

Welcome once again!
Morning Chris & Yorkie
Thanks for the welcome, I have put myself on the map now
Now that I have found this site and as you say Chris a HUGE knowledge base I will have the confidence to fly around here and can’t wait to join in! I pass the Knavesmire on the way into work early mornings and have seen some stunning sunrises with fog laid low over the race course and often wondered if I should keep the drone in the car for those mornings… well worth being late to work for!
Once again thanks for the welcome
Adam
Hi Adam,
I am on the East Coast, Sea Side Resort…everybody knows it.
I have a DJI Mini 2 but still need to give it a good testing. So far been know where with it apart from my back garden.
Will get there eventually.
I use Photoshop 6 to process my pics, looks hard to use but it isn’t, excellent for making the HDR image when you use the bracketing Tool on the Mini 2.
Look forward to speaking to you again in the Future.
Rob.
Morning Rob
At the moment I’m having a little dabble with GIMP and watching endless YouTube vidz about shutter speeds and RAW and HDR etc etc with the plan that if I get my head around it I will invest in Photo Shop… if I don’t I will just stick with point and shoot on auto which to be fair is very impressive in its self on DJI’s.
I was hoping to visit the coast soon and try getting some sunrise photos, I’ve been waiting for the sunrises to not be so early
Adam
Its as good a place as any to start, and offers many of the features of PS in a very easy to follow interface.
Chris if that’s what you call very easy mate i should give up now
Just try the basics, levels and curves, loads of tutorials online.
Or maybe have a look at Snapseed (free) for your tablet or phone, some brilliant preset results as well as loads of tools you can manipulate as you get the hang of it
Will do and once again thanks for the welcomes and help guys!
Hi Adam,
Don’t do Sunrises…Too Lazy. Got some half decent Sunsets, get some good ones over the Sea and Castle.
Has anyone seen the documentaries on TV about when the Starlings Swarm…that happens over the Sea Front in Autumn.Fantastic site. Gonna try and catch it this Year.
If you want to try P/Shop then just download the 30 Days free Trial, gives you an insight into its workings.
Rob
Hi Rob
That is fascinating to watch but could be disastrous if they flew at your drone

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the clip on You tube. Not seen that one before. Will save it.
Where I live there is a large community of Crows and Wood Pigeons right next to my back garden so cant fly far or it might upset them when they are nesting. Besides they might bash my drone about a bit. Lol
