I live in Harrow, North West London and have a DJI Mini 3, which I have owned for about a year.
I am a camera club member (Harrow CC) and mainly use the drone for taking photos. This I enjoy and gradually developing confidence in flying. Fortunately, unlike neighbouring boroughs Hillingdon and Brent, Harrow has no restrictions on TOAL in parks, so providing not too near Northolt Airfield, plenty of places to practise.
I have learnt quite a bit lurking here and thanks for all the information.
Anyone else in NW London? I have yet to see another drone in operation in Harrow.
Finally, does anyone else suffer from proxy vertigo? I know it is irrational, but once the drone goes more 5m up, I get the fear of falling, particularly noticeable when I first tried return to home and it shot up to 100m. However I am getting better at accepting it.

Good evening @pjmp Peter welcome to the club, I’m familiar with harrow ( not from there ) my dad was born there, I was flying near there last year at the hoover building
I felt very ‘odd’ when my drone was first up at 100m over Richmond Park in London and immediately limited the max height to 45m. I get the urge to jump when I’m up high, but wasn’t expecting that to translate through from the drone and screen!
I don’t feel the need to go high often anyway as most things I want to see are low down, or a nice view that looks just as good from a lower height. Its quite hard to see when is up at 100m so I prefer to keep it lower so its within line of sight too.
Hi I thought it was just me. But yes I feel it when looking up at the drone. Now I get a spotter so I can mainly look at the screen. It’s a strange feeling👍
Welcome, it’s great here. Keep a lookout for meets. I’ve been to a couple, which have been invaluable in instilling confidence. I’ve been given lots of tips by guys with considerable flying experience, and had my hand held whilst I put them into practice.
