Hello everyone. I just scratched the long time itch and bought a Mini 4 Pro, my first drone. I’m about to do my A2 CofC and possibly a GVC after that who knows, with a view to getting something bigger down the line. I’m a keen amateur photographer so that’s the main angle, but the aviator in me loves the idea of FPV, so I added a cheeky Goggles 3 to my order 
Keen to hear from anyone else who might live near me with any tips on good local spots to cut my teeth in!

Hello mate, any tips for good locations for a newbie in our area?
Well, a few of us have flown over the Chase a couple of times in the last couple of weeks. We’ve done Willington Cooling towers a few times, I’ve done Castle Ring a couple of years ago and others have done Shugborough and various other houses/castles. Nip over the border into Wales and Flint Castle has been done a few times along with the Party boat (TSS Duke of Lancaster). If you look on our very own Drone Scene, you find hundreds of places to go to, including TOAL and parking places. If you just want a blast around any day, drop us a line and we’ll sort something out.

Yes I’ve been playing with the Drone Scene map, and popped to a bit of Cannock chase earlier but lost my nerve a bit in the wind! Still not entirely sure about the implications for the SSSI bits of the Chase. I avoided the yellow bits today, but the links to the documents on the map weren’t that clear to me.
Can you tell me what TOAL means I keep seeing it!

Your M4P should handle this wind, no problem. We were over there a couple of weeks ago in howling wind and rain, still flew!
I know Lichfield are a bit iffy about flying in their parks, but Walsall are OK with no policies against us, Cannock seem to be OK, but Birmingham parks are supposedly no-go zones. Sutton Park still has a model flying site, but the club has been MIA for years, so that could be a quick fly and try one day Might have a look at that in the next few days. I’ll let you know.

Yes I dug out Lichfield CCs objections to flying in the parks. Shame but they are quite busy so I sorta get it
We are not a great distance away, we used to do the audio vusual work for Lichfield Cathedral. So was up that area a lot and now sometimes just drive through when bored.
