Got my first drone last week (but only just been able to start really flying with it) DJI mini 3 - it’s a sub 250g drone (although im sure most probably know that). I made sure to get my operators ID first and my first true flight was in Liverpool yesterday as it was a nice day and I was there for work.
Unfortunately, I live near Blackpool airport so flying around me requires permission which is a bit of a pain but easy to get from what I have looked into so i will look at submitted that via their portal.

Good evening, great to see another local on here. I’m from Lytham St Anne’s, I don’t do as much flying round here these days as weather isn’t great at minute. I’ve never considered month long periods for flying with Blackpool ATC, great for this time of year when weather is mostly crap. Could have got the nice sunset a few days ago.
Hi Leon, how does booking a month work? Do you need to ring atc when you intend to fly. As I fancy doing this. Weather can be quite changeable and having to book 48 hrs in advance means you can’t always guarantee conditions will be suitable.
Yes, you need to call when you intend to fly (just before takeoff) for approval, also need to be contactable during your flight (they have called me before to land during my flight) then finally call after you land. Bit of a pain but fair enough as they are usually really accommodating.
Cheers Jools, pretty much sorted, have booked “in principle “ the month of Dec. And they emailed the “real time” procedure. I’m looking for a first flight within the rtz, on Tues 10 th. Am.
