Hello from Rotherham

Hello my name is David, I have had drones previously but they haven’t really being up to standard of a real professional drone or up to the standard of DJI. I am 35 years old, I live in Rotherham with my partner and my dog. I am also Autistic and have a massive interest in Photography, My camera is a Canon D400S, I am adding a drone to this as I love the outdoors, especially in the summer months.

I have noticed that on the drone assist map on the mobile phone app that there’s a lot of people using drones and putting them above Rotherham Minster, This area is quite a built up area with lots of people and pedestrians so I would always err on the side of caution, I work in the Security Industry so I am always very cautious to areas where there are people. I would love to put my drone up above the Minster which is over 200 years old but the only issue is that there are lots of people and the Minster is in the Town centre of Rotherham

Hi David. Welcome. Im in chesterfield so not a million miles away. I had forgotten about Rotherham Minster… will have to have a look next time im working at the hospital. I perso ally wouldnt have an issue flying there unless it was a busy weekend. Early or late is always better with less chance of confrontation with the ‘know it all’ drone police.

We need to make sure we are equiped with all the relevant legislations and information set out in rhe drone code. Obviously rhings are dufferent if the drone is above 250g but if its below, go for it and enjoy this amazing hobby but stay within the rules:+1::grin: if i get to know im working in rotherham a few days in advance ill send you a message and we could meet up and fly it?
