Not my first post (I asked sone questions about the Flip previously) but my FIRST as a drone owner.
I don’t know what set me off with the gimmees for a drone, but I’ve spent the last three or four weeks investigating both new and secondhand and so managed to miss the sales.
Decided that a) it had to be a DJI as these hold their prices well if I wanted to sell later on and b) propellor guards would be good as I have lots of grandchildren.
Was gearing up to pay the eye watering price (to me) of a Flip fly more combo when I saw that Argos were having another sale - 20% off a Neo fly more! : Ordered it, collected yesterday, charged the batteries and registered/activated it - by which time it was dark.
Had my first flight this afternoon : just in the garden, but very impressed by the ease of flying.
I’ll take it over to Farley Mount and give it a good workout next.
Mike

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
Have you seen our Members Map? You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too ![]()
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.
And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.
Welcome once again!
Also, thanks for educating me that Test Valley wasn’t a typo and it does actually exist ![]()
Hi Mike @Spider and welcome to GADC

Yes - it is a real place.
My house is called “Valley View” and I can see a fair stretch of it.
Don’t get too envious though - it was built as a small cottage 101 years ago.
hi and welcome
Good afternoon @Spider Mike welcome along ![]()
Welcome aboard mate! I’m new here and they are a friendly helpful bunch.

Hi Spider. We lived in Southampton for years and recently moved back up to Staffordshire. We’re actually staying down in Southampton for a week though, so I’m out and about looking for places to fly locally. Let me know if you want company if you’re planning flying tomorrow, and I’ll hook up with you if you want. On the other hand, I won’t take offense if you tell me to bog off and mind my own business!! ![]()
Hope you have plenty of good flying hours anyway!
Hi Mike @Spider - welcome to GADC

Thanks Lumpy
Nice idea but I’m on family things this weekend.
Have a great time anyway. And welcome! ![]()

Never heard of the river Test? Along with the River Itchen a few miles to it’s east, both flowing into Southampton water, two of the most pristine and famous chalk bed rivers in the world?
Pristine when water companies aren’t fucking them up, at least.
Welcome
