Hello from Zummerzet

Hi everyone, I’m Neil from Somerset, first time dronee although I used to fly RC models in my yoof and have wanted a drone for camera work for a decade now. Recently treated myself to a DJI Mini 3 Pro which is a wonderful machine, seems easy to fly, quiet as a bee and takes great pictures, so just keeping my head down and learning how to fly it properly and safely at the moment.

Untangling the rules and restrictions on where you can and can’t fly has been doing my head in but it led me to Drone Scene and the Grey Arrows, so thought I’d jump in. Good 2 Go is really helpful too, especially for those who are hard of remembering, and I’ve shared that with others who also appreciated it.

I’m in the Burnham/Brent Knoll area of Sedgemoor, walking distance to the Knoll. so anyone in the area might find me bumbling around there trying not to upset the local walkers/birds/dogs/National Trust etc. Cheers.

Thanks! And yes, I’ve joined! I’ve noticed there’s a few folks on GADC flying around here so look forward to meeting them at some point. Noted about sharing locations, for the time being all my flights are within walking distance while I practice but when I get out a bit more I’ll post what I find.

Thank you, I am and it is! I managed 3 personal firsts yesterday: first time in Sports mode (blimey it’s quick!), first time in FPV (looks awesome) and first time catching it on landing. Hand launch next, and learning how to do Hyperlapse shots properly. It’s great fun, glad I bought the extra batteries

Cheers! You’re in a great part of the world, I love Scotland and especially the west side. Actually looked into moving to Argyll & Bute a few years ago but then covid hit. Must get back up there again.

Hi Neil - welcome to GADC :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi John, thanks, good to be here although still finding my way around, the forum is structured a bit differently to most others I’ve been on - quite refreshing for a change.

@GreyDad Hi Neil welcome to the club

Hi Neil , I’m just outside of Wells and I’m a relative newbie to the drone scene. I’ve got the Mavic 2 Pro, it’s a nice piece of kit, the camera is really good.
Welcome to GADC, as others have said, it’s a great place to get information for drone flying. All the best with your practicing of your Mini 3 Pro, I’ve thought about getting one of these too to add to my stable.
Best regards, Chris

Hi Chris, thanks, nice machine! When mine grows up it wants to be a Mavic 3! Would be good to discuss where to fly and who we potentially upset in doing so  DM me if you wander over this side of the tracks at all - while I’m practicing I’m being cautious and flying in my backyard so to speak, but I may head out to the beach if the weather ever gets any better. I want to fly and photo around Cheddar and Axbridge although where I want to go seems to be a maze of NT/SSSI/NE ownership.

Hi Graham, thanks!
