Hi All from Cambuslang, Glasgow

Hey Guys, I am a Drone noob but seem to have been drawn to drones’
That’s said living in Scotland would appear to be probmatic to fly due to winds. I purchased a Mavic Mini 2, almost a week ago and its not been below 20mph.
Anyone else encountering my frustration? Lol

Hi @Silverknight and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Have you seen our members map? (Click the burger-menu in the top right) You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too :+1:t2:

Lots of our members in Scotland, I’m sure they can offer advice on the winds up there, although I fly my Mini 2 regularly in 20mph winds here in Yorkshire.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the #questions-and-answers category.

Looking for recommendations of places to fly? Check out our interactive map on Drone Scene - be sure to log in to gain access to the full suite of features and map layers:

I’m not too far away from you in Kirkintilloch so I can sympathise with wind problems! I do fly sometimes in 20mph with my mini 2, just use common sense, when you fly out, fly into the wind and with the wind on return. There is a wealth of good stuff on YouTube from members here, have a look.

Thanks guys for the info. Been watching loads YouTube videos and can’t wait.

Welcome to the club John :+1: :+1: :+1:

Many thanks for the welcome

Hi buddy and welcome, I think during May we were all ready to abandon the drone due to constant rain!! Keep the faith and stay safe :+1:t2:

ha ha to right mate lol

I feel for you… been same over here in Edinburgh… get out somewhere a bit sheltered get used to flying… mini2 should cope with 20mph just be a bit careful… :grinning: welcome to the club…

Cheers bro

Hi @Silverknight Welcome to GADC, I’m in Cambuslang too.
I know what you mean about the wind, it seems to have been windy for ages now. I’m in Skye right now and would be delighted if it was only 20mph, was gusting to 35/40mph this afternoon, managed to get my M2P up but the Mini2 stayed in my bag.

Hi silverknight welcome to the club

Thanks :grinning: Damn those winds. Assume you there on Holiday. I’m in Drumsagard and waiting on chance to go along Manse Brae to the fields on right. Hope that wind settles for you. Gotta be more frustrating when your away.

Yeah up here for a few days. Manse Brae is handy for a quick flight. Here’s one I did when we had some snow.

That’s some good footage there and thanks for sharing. I think Drumsagard area is limited where you can fly and yes Manse Brae my only option at present albeit those pylons and trees lol

Hi, I live in Cumbria and am open to winds from all directions. It’s been said that if someone in Ireland farts, we get gales.
