Have recently found myself with a bunch of time on my hands at 53 so have decided to start a drone services business after taking an interest a few years back.
Qualified A2 CofC and recently passed RPC-L1 theory, with the practical assessment on 4th Sept (fingers crossed). Own a Mavic 4 Pro and Mini 5 Pro and am looking into thermal options for when the work demands.
Looking forward to touching base with other pilots in the future.Will keep an eye out for any Cheshire meet-ups.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

The RPC-L1 is on my todo list. Would you have a brief idea how it differs from the GVC which i’ve kinda studied for?

I don’t have any experience with the GVC, so can’t offer much insight with regards to content. I can’t imagine it is a great deal different and would likely include mostly the same modules (RPC-L1 being Air Law, Airspace Operating Principles, Human Performance Limitations, Meteorology, Unmanned Aircraft General Knowledge, Operating Procedures)
Obviously the RPC-L1 is split between fixed wing and multirotor and is the current pathway to further progression (BVLOS etc). Having taken the A2 CofC under monitored invigilator conditions, I was surprised that the RPC-L1 didn’t require this tbh.
Any tips you can give on thermal would be appreciated. Depending on the demand, I suppose it’s a case of either enterprise level multi payload options or a dedicated thermal drone.
