Nice to meet you all and great to find a place to exchange views and get info. I work mainly Real Estate but the drone is a small part of my business (but the most enjoyable)
I have been flying drones for hire for 4 years or so in Florida (FAA part 107 licensed) and only recently made the move back to the UK and as a reward to myself bought a Mavic3PRO for some fun and perhaps to make some money.
WOW! I could not believe the amazing amount of bureaucracy and documentation - it is discouraging and depressing and seems to reflect a past age when drones were dropping out of the sky and prone to “flya-ways”.
I’m an honest & legal and by the book operator and fine with the cost of training for my GVC, cost of safety equipment, cost of travel etc for a flight assessment, cost of operator insurance, cost of OA submission to CAA - but to now be waiting in excess of a month for a CAA response which of course is eating up my insurance coverage and stopping me working.
As you may realise I might claim to be by-the-book etc. but I have strong opinions. My apologies for an introduce with a moan but I HATE to say the FAA has it about right the CAA is killing drone flying (and btw I am from Glasgow and don’t think everything American is bigger and better)
