Hi from Huntingdon

Hi everyone. I thought I would introduce myself. I’m Jerry and live near Huntingdon Cambridgeshire. I am looking to get back into drone flying after years away. I got my mavic air back in 2018 before all the restrictions. With all the confusion of the different restriction I lost interest. Now I am keen to get back into it. So I am here to see what I need to do in order the fly again. Assuming the batteries charge for my mavic air that is. I have renewed my operator id and gained my flyer id. My mavic air is way over 250grams so I am looking at getting the a2 cofc to allow me to fly in more places. Anything else I need to think about?

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

Our Associates are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?

Hi and welcome from sunny Blackpool, as well as joining Greyarrows, which has a great active forum, as well as other benefits I would consider joining FPVUK or BMFA. This would then entitle you to fly under Article 16 Authorisation (on completion of a fairly simple risk assessment for each flight), giving you more scope to fly your >250g drone.

Hi @Jaylay30 :waving_hand:t2:

Before doing anything, you may want to think about keeping the Air or upgrading it to something sub-250g

As @SparkyFPV suggested above, run a few of your intended flying scenarios though Good 2 Go as this will quickly tell you where you can and can’t fly the Air.

If you keep the Air you might want to go the A2 CofC route and becoming a Silver or Gold member of Grey Arrows means you’ll get the entire A2 CofC certification for just £49.

Hope the Air batteries are ok, it was a game changing drone when it was released :star_struck:
