Hi from Martin in Smethwick West Midlands

Hi everyone just joined the club, I am 65 years old and care for my partner who unfortunatly has early onset Dementia, which limits my Drone activities I have a DJI Mini 4 Pro, I’m just building my confidence by doing
short flights, letting loose with nearly £ 800 worth of kit is nerve racking but getting more confident.
I will be spending some time reading posts and the brilliant and informative educational stuff.I’ll join in discusions as an when.
Very glad to be here.
All the best
Martin

Hi @picardclone01 and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Looking for recommendations of places to fly? Check out our interactive map on Drone Scene and please feel free to add locations of your own too

Wondering whether you can fly a particular model of drone under particular circumstances? Check out Good 2 Go where you’ll soon find the answer

Have you seen our Members Map? You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too :+1:t2:

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Hi Martin @picardclone01 - welcome to GADC :+1: :+1: :+1:

Building your confidence gradually is by far the best way - being overly confident in the early stages normally ends badly. Take your time but make to push yourself out of your comfort zone a little more on each flight and soon you’ll be flying worry free - good luck and enjoy :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi and welcome, we are not far from the Alexander Stadium. If you need some one with you when you fly feel free to ask. You could even be unlucky enough to have us and @Hotrodspike there helping lol. (Just kidding John… john is oright ya naue)

Did you take out care refresh when getting the drone. At least if you do have a big problem then you can have up to 2 replacements. Your DJI 4 has more sensors then our 3 pro so you have more protection. Remember to avoid sports mode to have these active. Just go at your own pace. If you can see sky around your drone then there is nothing to hit. Care refresh is only available to apply for a short time after regestering purchase.

Before a flight look out for any agressive birds (flying ones). If when flying you see any hostile activity get it down. We have encountered gulls using threatening flying behavior to the drone. If this starts, do not chance it, bring it down and find a new location. Before taking off give the drone a quick once over, all look intact, a good click when battery went in, props ok. Battery is very important as you know if your battery is lose at comes out it really is game over for the flight.

Saying that. The dji’s are great little drones. I have not flown a mini 4 pro we just have the 3 pro but being better with more sensors it is a superior drone and DJI have got it all in 249g. Bonus. There are a few of is around this area. You will find lots of friendly helpful people in the group. Sorry to hear of your partners health, if your flying tends to be spur of the moment just shout out, we may be free to load up and come and join you. If you need to be close to home lets try and find somewhere suitable for you. Enjoy the club, enjoy the drone and hope to meet you soon.
