Hi From @Paul192 Hartlepool

Hello everyone, I’m new to the club and looking forward to getting out flying again. I started flying about 7-8 years ago when i got an Eshine racing drone and failed to master it! so when i saw videos of the DJI GPS drones i shelved the racing drone and got a ( Mavic pro Platinum ) and was hooked. But I never got to fly much as work was so time consuming and the Mavic was only gotten out a few times when holidays allowed.
Now I’m due to retire I’ve been watching the videos of Dji drones on YouTube and had to order the Mini 5 pro. it arrives tomorrow Friday 26th. So thought i would join a club and heard GREY ARROWS mentioned a lot and joined this weekend to hopefully get some updated advise on flying safe, and where/when to fly and maybe find any members in the Teesside area. :waving_hand:

Hi @Paul192 and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Looking for recommendations of places to fly? Check out our interactive map on Drone Scene and please feel free to add locations of your own too

Wondering whether you can fly a particular model of drone under particular circumstances? Check out Good 2 Go where you’ll soon find the answer

Have you seen our Members Map? You may find some members living near you.

Feel free to add yourself to the members map too!

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Welcome once again!

Thanks for the welcome and info milkmanchris. I will try the ( Good 2 Go ) as i need to know what class the Mavic Pro comes under to fly. hopefully its UK1 as i think its about 750g ish if I’m right it will be a legacy drone, i will have read up on class rules again.
Manny thanks.

Fraid not, legacy drone (you’ll see it in the legacy drop down box)

A Mini 5 Pro, with the standard batteries will be Class marked 0 / UK0
A Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo Plus, (with the ‘Intelligent Plus’ heavier batteries), purchased direct from DJI’s official main UK online store will be class marked 1 / UK1 (since 17 June 2026) and is therefore ’compliant’ with new regulations in UK and will not become classed as a ‘legacy’ drone later.
As you say you have just bought it and it’s arriving today… :eyes::man_shrugging:t2:

Cancel that, its for your Mavic Pro

You should be good with the 5 (for at least 18 months, if it comes class marked even longer)

So i can fly the mavic pro with the same( flyer id and operator id) as i do the mini 5 ?
I only plan using the mavic pro out in the country side anyways !

Still a great drone, I get mine out every couple of months for a dust off

Great. I’ve spent a lot of time keeping the Mavic’s battery’s in good condition just in case.
Thanks again.

Thanks TonyR9. I checked the mini 5 pro had the UK0 sticker on it before i pulled the trigger.

Well… Only you know whether or not a UK0 or UK1 Class mark is important to you.
If not, carry on and enjoy :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
If it is then as your Mini 5 Pro is ‘brand new’ and presumably not been flown yet, you could maybe, possibly, perhaps consider returning it for a refund and getting the one mentioned :eyes::man_shrugging:t2::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Absolutely . I Messaged the shop and the guy said it had the UK0 sticker on it, so if it turns up with a UK1 sticker it will be returned to sender as ELVIS used to sing. :winking_face_with_tongue:

That’s strange… :man_shrugging:t2:
However, whatever you get I hope you enjoy it :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Is a UK0 by any other name

At present, a little more nuanced. However, the only thing that matters is he’s happy with what he has. So Fly & Enjoy it :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::joy:

Exactly the same - my results for a UK1 Avata 360
