Hi from Swansea

Hi all,
I’m a complete newbie with one afternoon’s flight experience.
Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for safe places to learn near Swansea please.
Cheers,
Keith

Bore da from Bridgend Keith.

Going to tag in @Jhdee who is also Swansea based for some specific area advice, but at this time of year I’d get yourself down to a beach or large open area i.e. a common or similar. I guess it depends on your capability to get to locations (car, bus, foot, health, etc) and your specific drone, but in short, find a quiet spot and just get flying.

Let me know and I’ll put some suggestions together for you :+1:

Hi, being a complete newbie, I thought a Neo 2 would be a good starting place.

Hi,
I’m in the Morriston area but know my way around Gorseinon. I went to Pen-yr-Heol in the late 70’s. I would l8ke to find somewhere tried and tested to learn to fly, and hopefully somewhere close to home.

Hi @KeithJ - you probably know the open field next to the old Valeo site (just around the corner from Pen-yr-Heol. I’ve flown there quite often with no issues.
Another spot even closer to you is at Llangyfelach at the site of the old Felindre steel works - see the red flag on the map below :+1: If you fly here just be careful of the air ambulance that flies back and for from Morriston hospital to Dafen each day.

Stunning, thanks for the info. I used to live in Llangyfelach, so know the area well. The common behind Valeo is a good shout. A cheeky Roma after would be good. Can you park at Felindre ? I’m pretty sure there used to be on-site security ?
Cheers,
Keith

Last couple of times I’ve been up there only dog walkers about. Keep your car in sight though because there’s some light fingered little shites about that are only too ready to make off with anything they can lay their hands on :man_facepalming: Never had problems parking - I normally stay over the DPD site end - away from the learner drivers :+1:

Hi, I thought the Neo 2 would be plenty for me to learn the ropes on. Been down with flu since before Christmas, so only been out once. Where about in Swansea are you ?

Tbh i was suprised at how much the lil thing can do, hands free, mobile and with the controller.

Taken me by suprise, im a lil cautious of sending it at any “claimed” flying distances yet as still getting to ropes with the battery life and limitations.

We all have to start somewhere though and im more than happy with my choice, im over in Bonymaen buddy.

Having Kilvay hill on mydoor step to fly around has made for some exciting and nervous first flights since Christmas day!
