Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

Our Associates are able to enjoy a lot of great services for free but our Members are eligible for a whole lot more! Read all the details about our Membership Benefits?

Thanks for the welcome, for me I’ve had an interest in drones for some time but it was just making sure it offers me what I’m after. Firsty I love to learn new things and I can get quite invested when I get hooked. For me being able to fly something for starters is very appealing but being able to see, video and photogragh in different locations is really exciting. Plus having the perfect reason to visit new places is also a major bonus. I’m looking to buy the DJI Mini 4 Pro as my first drone.

Before asking, did you try a search first?
Hi,

I’m looking at buying my first drone after doing my research of reading as much as I can to get started and countless youtube videos. I have also completed my Flier ID theory today.
I have set my sights on a DJI Mini 4 Pro and I’m stuck between choosing 2 deals that I have seen. One is more than the other but offers more accessories.

Fly More Combo
Fly More Combo Sky Master Bundle

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I have not searched within the forum as its a deal from a store then I was not to sure it would be on here. I have done my research on the drone model, but the deal that was being offered by the store has got me stuck.

That is a great drone and you will not be disappointed.
Best advice i can give is watch a lot of YT videos, there are plent out there to show tou how to fly a drone. One of the Members on here @ianinlondon has a fab YT channel.

Get yourself out in a wide open space once you have the drone and have a practice.

First thing to do though is register with the CAA for your operators ID, you will not to stick thisnin your drone as this is a legal requirement, you will need to pay about £11 for this. You can also get whatbthey call flyer ID, its not necessary but would recommend it though, it is free and it will give you useful info and you do a multiple choice test at the end.

Also before you fly check the clubs DroneScene to check if there are any flight restrictions.

If needed your can buy the stickers of your Operators ID on from the clubs shop

Also just enjoy yourself

Ah that is great, you will not be disappointed i am sure.

Yes i bet, you will love it i am sure. Once you start you will be addicited to it. A lot of members on here say once your buy your first one you will buy more haha.

If you need any help or advice everyone on here are so friendly and helpful and someone will always know the answer.

If you are interested in meeting up fellow members might be worth joining the following two groups @group-westmidlands and @group-eastmidlands

And also keep an eye out on the meetup sections for any local meets and also keep an eye on the DroneScene as there is a new function where it shows you if someone is arranging a local meetup in your area

I occasionally pass through Nuneaton on my way to my uncles in Bedworth, I’ll probably be looking for interesting places to fly over that way too soon

Welcome to GADC Tom @Tom1980

The Sky Master package looks like a great deal, considering the 4 Pro & Care Refresh is £1098.
