Hi everyone! I’m Jacek (or Jack). Just joined the group and recently picked up a Neo2 Fly More Combo. It’s not the fanciest drone out there, but it does exactly what I need and I’m really enjoying it so far.
I’ve got all the IDs and registrations sorted (Flyer ID, Operator ID, EASA). I’m into photography and I’m also a licensed HAM radio operator.
**I’m looking for someone local with a bit more flying experience. I’ve flown a drone once ages ago, with very basic gear, so I’d love to meet someone who could help me get properly into the hobby. Happy to learn and meet new people!

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

Hi all!, Is anyone here from the Southampton/Itchen area? I’m new to flying and getting ready for my first proper flight, so I’d really appreciate any tips or a casual chat with someone more experienced.
not for now, but in my free time, or be there during your flight to simply acquire some knowledge, I don’t necessarily have to fly.
I’m not that local to you, i live on Hayling Island. There are people closer but if you are prepared to travel we could meet half way. It’s a shame you didn’t join a few days earlier, we had our first south-east group meeting at Portchester Castle on Good Friday!
Ideally for your first flights a fairly open space is ideal (Portchester Castle has a nice flat field north of the car park!) and just practice flying until it becomes natural. If you need to stop and think just stop making any control movements. The drone will stop to and wait patiently for you to take command again,
There may seem to be a lot to get to grips with initiallybut, as with any other discipline, get proficient with the basics then start to build on your skills.
I’m over on the forest side but just a heads up, you may already be aware?
There’s a continuous temporary danger area over most of central Southampton including the Itchen / Woolston area. You’ll have to apply for permission to fly should you want to fly within this zone.
