Hi newbie from Derbyshire

Hi all,

Just posted in the RTF thread and thought i’d better introduce myself.

I’m from Hilcote, Derbyshire but originally from Sutton in Ashfield Notts. I’ve had my DJI Mini 4 Pro for probably just over a month now. I’m really enjoying it as an hobby but find myself questioning the legality of what i’m doing every flight.
I check drone assist, I make sure i’m not being a nuisance, i’ve got operator id and flyer id as well as being insured.
For example, I went to Silverhill to fly to the miner statue and take some shots, but I noticed in the car park it said no drone flights. There is nothing on drone assist and I can’t find any bylaws that say I can’t yet didn’t proceed due to not wanting to be a nuisance.

Any tips or advice for someone that would like to fully embrace the hobby?

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

Hi @Stubby, welcome aboard. I live in Morton, not far from Alfreton. A good place to practice flying without any restrictions is Doe Hill Country Park between Tibshelf and Morton. Parking is free and there are lots of pathways, wooded areas and open spaces to launch drones. what3words: ///equivocal.remainder.pitching
