Hi all,
Newbie here!! Go easy, please
Please can I ask what the best drone is to get altitude? Or is this where laws and rules come in to play? My Potensic max altitude is 150m?
Your question actually suggests several things …
-
That you probably haven’t read the Drone Code
-
… which in turn means you’ve not taken the DRES test ( Drone and Model Aircraft Registration and Education Scheme (DRES) )
-
… which in turn means your drone hasn’t been registered … see the same link.
-
… which in turn means that were you to fly, within the UK, it would be an illegal flight at any altitude or location.
Not policing you - just helping to make you aware of the situation you are in and the current obligations of being a drone pilot in the UK.
Crikey. Thanks, Best get busy then…
And welcome to GADC, too.
Of course if the Potensic weighs less than 250 grams (I had one for a short while which weighed 170 g yet was quite powerful) it doesn’t need to be registered. But of course the 120m/400ft height limit is set for safety reasons, and sensible to observe, registered or not. At least the limit is relative to the ground, so if you are flying in mountainous country you can still get very worthwhile panoramas provided you have hiked up first - the ‘in sight’ ruling doesn’t give you much chance if flying from the valley unless you’ve got the eyesight of an eagle
Cheers,
Peter
