I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:
Land owner permission requirements unknown.
Horton's Tower - Said to have once been the tallest non-religious building in Britain, Horton's Tower near Chalbury Common is a classic example of a folly - monuments built by rich eccentrics with no obvious purpose.

Thanks for adding to the map @StunningDrone
Did you know you can now also add a marker on the map for parking? Saves you typing in three random words
I’ve just added a new Parking marker to this location @StunningDrone
I’ve flown here too @StunningDrone

Hi , I know it’s a couple of years down the line but where did you TOAL from as I’m thinking of flying there soon.
Cheers Terry.
You can TOAL from the path that is immediately alongside the tower. That’s where I flew from.

Ok thanks. I asked as I thought I’d seen somewhere that toal was from the small lay bye on the Chalbury rd nearby which I wasn’t keen on .
I’ll hopefully fly there very soon.
If you look at the Drone Scene entry, the map has the parking marker displayed.
From visiting there you’d have no VLOS from the road where the nearest small lay-bye is, too many trees restricting your view.
I personally had no issues TOAL’ing from the path that leads up to the Tower. However unsure if it’s a public right of way so just act dumb if approached. I’d very much doubt you would around there.
Yes that’s what I thought as I have driven to the lay bye . Thanks for the advice.
I’m also going to try Knowlton Church/Circles which is just down the road from Horton.
Cheers Terry

Exactly were I took off from.

I have always said if you live on the south coast Horton Tower is a perfect first time flight. Open fields, no one around and complete VLOS.
