I had a bit of a hard landing on the beach. I forgot I was in S mode and flew in far too fast.
Any tips on removing sand? The sand is everywhere. Two front motors won’t move properly. I can hear the sand grinding inside. Gimble won’t move properly either. Horrible grinding noise when I try to move it. I even had trouble getting the SD card out of the little slot.
Thanks for all the ideas. I’ve managed to get the motors spinning okay by using the compressed air. For the gimbal, I used compressed air and some WD40. After the compressed air, the gimbal was moving okay but I got an gimbal overload error. After the WD40 and some more air, the error has gone. Going to do a test flight tomorrow.
Test flight went okay. Drone is flying fine and the gimbal is working. I’ve had a message displayed a couple of times saying that I’ve got the wide angle lens fitted which I haven’t.
I’ll give that a go if the message comes back. Sand keep reappearing in the motors. Not sure if the arms are hollow and there’s some sand inside? Luckily I bought a large can of air
I think the arms are hollow,
Yr probably find as it’s drying out if the sand was damp, is why it’s freeing up & yr finding bits here & there, when you give it a good blast hold it upside down sideways every way possible, get another can if you have too,
Just from experience as a drone I lost last year prior to the loss I had a similar scenario or at least with gritty motors, have you turned them real slow, with the props off to see if they feel grainy ? But try not to get confused with feeling grainy as in ingression sand dirt not the notchy - ness of the actual motor bearings, hope that makes sense,
Yes it does make sense. When it first happened, two of the motors wouldn’t even turn. After a lots of air and sucking on the motor, I got them all turning smoothly. However, each time I go to fly a grain or two gets back into the motor somehow. I’m just going to have to be patient and make sure the motors are all clear each flight.
If we’re me,
I’d stick it in the airing cupboard for a night / 24 hours, so any sand that may have clumped or dried together due to being damp,
When it’s had a good airing, give it a gentle shake call it, don’t throttle it in the hope it may loosen up anymore sand that might be in there, then give it another good blast as mentioned, then monitor as you say,
Another thing but this is me btw, after the airing cupboard you could even try in increment’s, getting a hair dryer setting on cool, get it near or as close up to every nook, cranny & crevice & try to blast it, again that’s just me which is actually what I done with my drone that I lost, all was fine until I lost it,
My own stupidity that, was nothing to do with the above….
I am thinking of a big tube with a fan at the end blowing through. Strange now as I am just seeing all the reasons why this is not good. Glad it is going though.
