Howzit Everyone - South East of London

Greetings Everyone,

I’m new here, I have a Mavic mini which I’m planning on getting much more use from. I’ve had very little flying time in the past but looking forward to learning from the more experienced pilots as well as finding cool and interesting locations to explore.

Cheers for now.
Roger

Hi @MALTurtle and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Where abouts are you located?

Looking for recommendations of places to fly? Check out our interactive map on Drone Scene and please feel free to add locations of your own too

Wondering whether you can fly a particular model of drone under particular circumstances? Check out Good 2 Go where you’ll soon find the answer

Have you seen our Members Map? You may find some members living near you.

Feel free to add yourself to the members map too!

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.

There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.

We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

And finally, if you are new to drones and wondering what it’s all about, have a look at Resources for a beginner.

Welcome once again!

Thanks @milkmanchris ,
Ha ha, correct. Most of the other titles had been used already, I thought Howzit would have a rare chance of being taken.
Are you from SA?

Thanks Peter @LE60LAD

Why are you an angry Turtle haha

I grew up in SA - all over the place - early years in Joburg / PTA / Sasolburg area then my schooling was down south in Port Shepstone then moved up to the Durban North / Kloof went to boarding school in PMB - lived in Umhlanga for a bit too as well as Zimbabwe haha

No, but mums brother settled there after the war, so did have an extended family out there (now all scatterded across the globe)

Many visits there from mid 80’s to mid 2000’s, most Durban/PE where the family were, but have also done the Vaal and Cape touristy bits.

Still love a Braai to his day

We have a few members with SA roots

I spent a year at Merchiston in 1989 then went to Alex High from 1990 to 1995 - both as a boarder ( showing my age now haha ) then I was an owner driver for my folkes Courier Company for 5 yrs in and around PMB ( Dawn Wing Couriers )

Ah okay. I was at college till '96.
I vaguely remember dawn couriers.
