I meant in NOTAM airspace where flying is prohibited, the situation in Liverpool at the Labour Party Conference.
Aeroscope will only pick up DJI drones

Had to google that. I always assumed something of the sort existed, but never knew the details. This would alert authorities with the system to the unauthorised presence of a drone where it shouldnāt be, and presumably Merseyside 5-0 have it. It would able to give out the location of the take-off point as well, so that the perp could be nicked.
But I would imagine that spotters on the ground would be able to pick out non-DJI offenders. The Laborious Partly conference attracts a high police presence, not all of it visible and indubitably reinforced by spooks of various types (Special Branch, MI5/6, Anti Terrorist). Iām guessing that some of these will be ordered to be alert to drone intrusion of the airspace from drones of any make, and will look up and pass information on. Or ādisappearā the pilotsā¦

Iād wager they probably have assistance from the Met who have the equipment and the team for counter drone operations. They are also the national lead on counter terrorism policing.

I know the law prevents you flying things INTO a prison - I wonder if it also prevents you flying things OUT? ā¦ things like prisoners from Parkhurst?

Are we certain that this is an aircraft track? It looks more like a boat track to me; an aircraft would not have to follow the Medina estuary so closely or go around Calshot Spit. The curve of the track between Cowes and Calshot Spit looks very much to me like a boat being pushed off course by a tidal current and having to correct by turning repeately to starboard in small increments. I canāt square away the idea that it is a drone being flown from somebody on a boat, as slow speed would be necessary in the Medina and few drone would have the battery endurance needed for this journey.
It could be a drone switched on and connected to itās controller & app but not flying, simply being transported on a boat. If I were flying a drone from that creek to Fawley power station site (I would of course have to be unconcerned with the VLOS issue), Iād fly dead straight about 150ā up in order to make the duration as short as possible, in the interests of having enough battery to make it.
We are totally certain itās not.

Iād wager the flight is related to the transportation of Vestas wind blades from their Newport facility via the Blade Runner Two vessel over to their paint spraying site at the former Fawley Power Station.

They extended the previous NFZ with a strip right down the river. They really dont want people seeing the aircraft carrier close. Although members of the public can pay for free tickets to walk around it and are allowed to take pictures

I would think there are probably sensitive bits that can be seen from the air that the ticket-holding public will be shepherded away from and unable to photograph, hence the NOTAM.
Ermmm No! I had a private tour around Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth 2 years ago. I took a plethora of images on the flight deck. Thereās certain parts of the interior I wasnāt allowed to but that was it.
It was a small dig at them saying tickets would be free but then the company dealing with it adding an admin charge to get hold of them!
I missed out and I couldnt get any tickets so I want to try to get some shots of it. Im debating contacting them first to make sure Im not hunted down for it like whoever did it in Hamburg! Something tells me just because Im not in the NFZ it may not cut it with whats been happening recently.
