Interesting NOTAMs / Flight Reports / temporary flight restriction zones

Rich might need to start considering a version of DS where it highlights areas without a NOTAM.

That’s not a bad idea …

It would actually be a fail .. because all the NOTAMs are not necessarily for the same time periods, and many are “notifications” and don’t really affect us.

The time period’s in the NOTAM and a filter on that would be a good option in DS (Current, Future, All).

So have I after having had a a PET scan (Positron Emission Tomography). I also carry a card requesting only irradiated blood products when in need of transfusion.

I am my own glow-in-the-dark nightlight

Love it when the CAA starts spamming me with emails about new NOTAMs before they’ve actually added the briefing sheets to the site they link to in their emails…

Looks like filming JD Vance on his holiday is out of the question, whilst he stays at Dean Manor

Three hours later…

No flying for me without jumping in the car this week… :frowning:

I wonder if it’s related to this VIP visit (same dates, not far away):

Still not showing in DroneScene, but roughly (with rounded ends):

It’s alright, I think I’m getting him off you :face_vomiting:

Police Scotland preparing for potential JD Vance visit - BBC News.

Carnell (the centre of the NOTAM I’m caught in) is a shooting estate, so that would fit (says me with my massive assumption that all Republicans are gun nuts).

Now I’m confused. I’ve double-checked my coordinates in Google Maps and still think I’ve got it roughly right.

But the NOTAM on the map is wildly different (and HUGE!)

These are the coordinates from the briefing sheet:

And here’s what I’ve put in my map:

Have I got myself confused with converting the coordinates?

The NOTAM details have same co-ords as you posted above.

Not converting, but copying and slightly editing for Google Earth to understand ..

.. for the corners I get ..

So what you’re saying is that yes, I ballsed up the coordinates?  Thanks.

I’m still baffled by the size of this restriction… do they really think Vance is going to visit Saltcoats this week?

'sake! They just keep on adding it it:

The big NOTAM circles are GPS jammers. One over the Cornell Estate, one at Prestwick Airport, and a third at Turnberry. Between them they cover the whole of Kilmarnock, Prestwick and Ayr, as well as many, many villages.

A little bit of overkill for one tourist, I’d say.

There’s also now a 2 mile no fly zone in effect at Dumfries House (the King’s local pad) on Sunday because of an equestrian event.

Basically, @group-scotland, don’t bother bringing a drone to Ayrshire for the next week.

I’m supposed to be helping with some drone imagery in this area, am I reading it correctly that the NFZ ends at 15.30 every day? So, a blanket NFZ until then every day?

I tried calling Boscombe Down yesterday to confirm and was told that all their Ops team were in Malta until Monday and noone could help me until then?!
