I’ve searched on here, unfortunately without success.
I want to fly up the high street in our village at a constant walking speed so I can maintain vlos. I tried earlier but I found it uncomfortable and awkward trying to keep the stick in a fixed position for 30 mins and also use side to side movements too.
It would be great if I could set a maximum speed and then just hold the stick in place with an elastic band.
The Mini 3 doesn’t have cruise control or (I’m pretty sure) native waypoints, so your best bet is probably to use a 3rd party app like Litchi to fly with waypoints
Follow Me/Tracking Mode? The drone will match your walking pace or that of any subject you designate, and I assume it can be done from any angle. This would in fact be better than setting a constant speed, as it will adjust the drone’s speed to yours on the ground. If you slow down, the drone will slow down, if you stop for a moment, so will the drone, and so on.
I suspect one of your issues is having to constantly hold the RC out so that signal to the drone is maintained. I’ve practiced tracking myself manually, and it’s fine for a few minutes, but I can see how it would be tiring over half an hour. Some sort of strap that would hold it in a suitable position/angle, maybe?
You can change the maximum speed for each mode in the Gain and Expo settings. Cine mode will let you set this lower than the Normal and Sport modes.
Great suggestion above. You can set the forward speed max to your liking and then just full stick it as you are walking.
Thanks for the replies chaps, I’ll try adjusting the gain or expo settings.
The mini 3 doesn’t have a follow me mode as far as I’m aware, its the only thing I miss on this drone.
