Jelly Effect on DJI Flip

Got some lovely video of the Croydon sunset but there seems to be a jelly effect occurring.

The drone did give me a few wind warnings but it only happens occasionally, along with the gimbal tilting to right or left sometimes.

Is there something broken in the drone or is this all wind? How would I reduce this effect?

Thank you so much!

Is the actual video from the onboard SD the same? (i note this is a screen recording)

Yep, it’s the same with the controller as well

Any other videos like it ?

Might be worth doing some tests at different resolutions too while you are at it?

Has the drone been crashed at all?

That’s classic jello caused by vibration.

Check all your props are tight and that everything seems rigid. something is off balance or vibrating during flight.

Yep, it was stuck on a tree a couple days ago and chucked down with a piece of wood. Is it a motor issue or camera?

something is bent or not balanced properly, causing it to vibrate in flight.

No props seems to be loose. Does this indicate a deeper issue?

Could this be a wind issue?

Probably not, Check it in the house to see how it records hovering

I’d open out the drone plance it on a level surface and see if anything looks or feels bent, manually spin the props (with the battery removed) see if any of them wobble or not running true. inspect the motors (the metal bit the props screw to)

power the drone up and have a look at the gimbal is it sitting straight. are the prop gaurds bent in any way? all the spokes all ok?

few things to check.

Tried an indoor test, everything looks perfect and stable.

Could be a wind issue then :+1:t2:

Check all props for any damage. Even a small nick in a prop can make the drone slightly unbalanced :wink:

Do some daylight tests when you can and see what that brings, the Flip is so new, and so few people have bought into it that it’s all a process of elimination at the moment.

The tree might not have helped ;o(

This is the footage captured during the RTH when I turned around. Notice that the video looks much smoother.

Still got the issue though

Does it? I don’t see it. Where does it show?

My bad, just checked on a bigger screen and looks ok

For now, do you think it’s more wind related? Props look fine to me and I would probably do a bit more testing soon.

This can be a software issue, just rebooting can fix it or if present all the time then refresh the firmware with DJI assistant might help
