Just bought a “customer return untested by staff” Mini 2 on an on-line auction site, no not fleaBay. There was one picture of the drone with the controller but was described as a Fly More bundle.
Mini(mal) detail, said be aware may be faulty or parts missing.
It was less than £250 including auction fees.
I’ll post again when I have it and see what I have ended up with!
A Simon Charles job?
Yes it was… quizzical face is a bit worrying.
I could tell by the “untested by staff” comment coupled with only one photograph
Haha, all their auctions seem to have just one image and same “advisories” re condition.
Anyone out there bought from Simon Charles before??
I suspect that “customer return untested by staff” is likely to indicate “we tested it and its definitely got problems. We really don’t want to admit that, but we want to make sure you have no right to send it back”.
That the reason I’ve never bought anything from them, they don’t even say if it’s working or not, it’s all just “sold as seen”
Absolutely this. Why wouldn’t you test it to the best of your abilities???
Well I’m taking a punt…it may pay off.
On the positive side, I’ve bought gear listed as untested, sold as seen. On quite a few occasions, one the item is in my grubby hands, it’s been in perfect working order. Other times it’s needed some maintenance.
When I buy such gear, and as long as there’s no physical damage, I take into account as to what would be the most expensive repair and pay/bid accordingly.
That’s what I’m hoping for! Thanks for the optimism!!
I never knew that site existed until now and have spent an hour on it already. Looks like there could be a bargain or two to be had if you wanted to take the chance.
Hopefully yours will turn up and fly straight out the box, in which case you’ve saved about 300 quid
Exactamon! Worth a go and I will update once I have the drone…
The Mini 2 has arrived but no chance to open it up yet… tomorrow will be D(rone) Day!
Fingers crossed Paul
Cheers, will post as soon as I assessed it
Well it’s not a complete flymore package, drone, controller and battery in a DJI carry bag. No spare props and small chip out of one that fitted so it’s had a bump but otherwise looks ok. Just the USB C cable but that’s all I need.
Currently charging so will see what happens later with a very careful test flight…if it will!
Just noticed a small crack in the body work but it’s very minor, in fact I thought it was a black hair on it!
The good news is it appears to fly without issue, only had quick play as I’m caring for my mother tonight but the camera, gimble and all control functions appear normal.
Judging by the box it was an Argos purchase and looking at the settings, the max altitude was set to 500 meters and RTH height was 128 meters so it looks like an unconsidered purchase by someone who knew little about legal or sensible settings and didn’t really know what they were doing.
Only time will tell but even though it’s not the full package as I was hoping for, I seem to have got a basic Mini 2 package for less than £250. Some extra props and at least one further battery will be required. Really looking forward to extended flight time and Ocusync transmission. Further post when I’ve had a bit more time to play.
I bought this last week, it arrived Monday and is mint, actually needed binding to the controller, so I would hazard a guess at a new replacement, all 3 batteries never charged before neither, all spare parts still sealed, mega chuffed
Wow, you did well!
