Ken Heron on YouTube

Ive become drone obsessed since getting my drone and spend endless hours watching drone videos…
My favourite is Ken Heron
Wondered how many of you watch his videos?

Just had a quick look.

I think, on balance, the world is a better place for the fact that we don’t all like the same things…

Is that diplomatic enough?

He’s more fun than informative. Captain Drone occasionally has a sticker giveaway. There’s usually an ulterior motive for subscribing to drone channels

Dont mind him but the one one video which sticks out is when he attached i think a mavic 3 to the underside of a bigger M30T and it crashes to the ground and he tries to stop it hitting the deck .Expesive repairs !!! looks as if because the underside obstical sensors were being obstructed it might have caused the crash …

I find his stuff quite entertaining sometimes, but I wouldn’t trust him to provide advice (partly as he is based in the USA).

I believe Sean from Geeksvana used to be a regular on his shows but he walked off a livestream and don’t think he’s been back since.

Can’t remember the exact circumstances but I think he tried to “educate” Ken on responsible flying in response to a video he did with Billy Kyle, and the attempt at education wasn’t well received…

sean (geeksvana) has been back a few times for the news part to fill in for jeff and ken n sean talk alot behind the scenes too

This is the “explainer” vid from Geeksvana on the subject.

Ah - I hadn’t realised that. I’ll row back on my previous statement in that case! :joy:

I have to agree that whilst entertaining he does seem to promote breaking the rules and since my post I am now following Captain Drone who I find informative.
Suggestions for other channels worth following would be really welcome.
Thanks

Take a look at Windswept Robert and GavinHR. Windswept for interesting features who occasionally pops up here. Gavin I find good to watch when there’s a new Fly app release.

I watch him for the entertainment value, he just does some silly things :+1:

He makes a change from the girth of serious competitive reviews and ‘change these settings’ which will change your life types of channels out there.

He may not be to everyones taste, but he’s good for a chuckle :+1:

I would of watched Ken Heron 6+ years ago he had a DJI phantom and and subscribed when he had only about 6k following and 1½k views, he was learning as well but back then he was very informative and I could learn from his mistakes. The goofy you get the more followers you get and when promoted by freebies it gets lost in truth and advertisment. So never watch him anymore.

I would not subscribed to any one channel, I Google for information and watch a few to get a general idea.

I do have to say Joshua Bardwell imo is the best youtuber I’ve ever come across in his teaching techniques and real honest reviews on new products especially on FPV.

Have to say, I prefer Painless360 for general content, but that’s probably because I fly at least as much Fixed Wing as Multirotor. His BF and iNav explainers are easily the clearest to follow (for me).
Bardwell also is good when you are looking for specific information, I can only watch him in small doses though.

Bardwell, it seems, is the latest Ken victim for ‘crashing’ Ken’s Avata; Bardwell CRASHED my Avata AND raced my RX8 - YouTube

I enjoy watching Ken’s videos too. Ian in London is great. There are a lot out there.
