Lechlade on Thames-30th Dec 2019

I have been wanting to fly here for a while, it sits in a gap between Brize Norton and Fairford NFZ, it has a small gap were you can fly, the NFZ limits you to 200ft
First time with stobes on in daylight, and they worked well.

The historic small town of Lechlade sits in an Area of Natural Beauty on the River Thames, with good road links from all directions and within easy reach of all the Cotswold villages and countryside.
I parked in a pay carpark, £1 an hour just before the bridge.

Lovely shots there Kev, nice and clean.
Last time I was around Lechlade a Vulcan came over, nice sight but would make me nervous flying there, tangled with that air traffic flying ppl :exploding_head:

Hi Rob, it is at the end of Fairford approach and you do not get hardly any PPL traffic, Brize traffic on 25 departure will be around 2,000ft, I had a A400 yesterday just as I was about to take off. Also DJI locked me to 200ft. And also in this location you do not need to fly far away from where you launch :+1:

Excellent photos, I worked out of Fairford when the Gulf War was on and the B52 bombers where flying out on sorties, is Fairford still a operational base ?

Hi @Digbypatch,
Fairford is operational , it has 2 x U-2”s based at present and has frequent temporary deployments of heavy bombers 3 or 4 times a year.
Couple of my pics below
