What software are you using to plan that out?
A post was merged into an existing topic: No flying today, bloody weather!
I think the specific concept of VLOS referring to the drone is the issue here; only in very rare lighting can you see the \Mavic Mini beyond 200 metres or so; conversely much larger drones can still be seen against white cloud at 600-700 metres. For me, from my usual take off points, I can see the whole area that I’m flying up to around 700 - 800 metres away. So whilst I cannot see the dot of my drone, I can see precisely where it is from my screen and I can see all the surrounding sky for approaching aircraft with my eyes. You could see a car driving along a road at 800 metres or half a mile away, so you can easily see a helicopter or light aircraft, who should be far higher than the 50 metres I usually fly at. Most days 200 - 300 metres is plenty far enough for me to fly, but anyone that says they’re flying in VLOS at 400 metres with the Mini, Air or even the Pro in many cases is telling porkies. But they’ll have full vision of where the drone is.
