Lost my drone during a speed attempt

This has got me thinking (i don’t know the answer yet) but you changed the return to home setting mid-flight
I have never seen that text before when I have changed the RTH but I have never done it mid-flight

Changed after switching does that mean after switching off?

I will do a test…

but if so then it was still in RTH mode and not Descend :man_shrugging:

Fingers crossed. May well end up being a bit of rubbish or something, but you never know!

Just watched that bit if the vid again. Don’t think it is the Mini 2. There were a lot of those ‘sapling tube protector’ things in the woods, not sure what the proper name for them are. But it looks like these on closer inspection.

No, surely not. You can’t switch off an RC (or the drone) mid flight. So why would they present that option, if it was that.

“after switching” simply means … after you press ‘Confirm’.

Re the possibility of it being caught in the trees, and visible from above.

As I’ve already discussed with Chis …

  • It being so windy the likely hood is that it would have been shaken out of them and fallen to the ground.
  • Of course, it could also have caught in the fork of some twigs … but not before it had dropped far enough to be invisible from the air.
  • Also - the final 6 satellites wouldn’t suggest it was in a high location.

But, too, anything is possible.

… which is why I’m going though the vid at 25% speed and zoomed in … LOL!

How about this object at 2:32 in to the video you uploaded in this post?

I agree … but devil’s advocate …

When my M2P flipped onto it’s back mid flight, it was blown at a heck of a speed straight into the side of those trees (near that gate we climbed over). The M2P was tangled in the twigs and ivy. It tooks me about 20 seconds to unpin her.

Done some tests in the kitchen

It is there as a confirmation when changing from RTH to Hover or Descend and its the same in-fight or not

If it is changed from Hover or Descend to RTH you don’t get the warning

so it should have changed mode from RTH to Descend

Into the side and lower down … could be. Less wind movement in the tree to shake it anywhere.

Was really meaning from top down … but shaken part of the way, as I say above, it would be nigh on invisible.

PMSL

… and totally rocking Davinci Resolve’s “Optical Flow” re-timing that removes ALL the jitter from 30fps playing at 25% speed. Silky-smooth!

Ditto … but in Premiere. AI gap filling, it’s amazing.

Only problem is thats not there on the video i downloaded from the google drive.

It is - close to that time - need to frame-step to see it. Only visible for a couple of frames.

The 2 things that bug me are:

  1. The aerial video of this woodland make it appear almost empty inside, when actually it’s quite dense
  2. I have spent many hours in here over the past 3 days, and find it hard to believe I would have missed this - but equally, am not ruling that out

It’s on my from screen from 2:21 to 2:37, a bit below that yellowy object on the ground, disappears under branches and comes back. Triangular and light in colour.

My bad, got it at 2.33
Looks like a leaf at the end of a branch.
