Man thats a larger area than it looks
It’s about the size of the Isle of Wight …
Thats a good point, would suggest that its somewhere between the 2 sets of trees. I would concentrate efforts between both sets of trees and the field between them
If it’s in that band of uncut stubble then you’d have to be practically on top of it to see it
To be honest with occusync I would have expected it to have a solid connection even in trees if you were around 20M away (the rough width of the treeline)
None of the reconnections were stable, and all only in a relatively small area.
Damaged aerial?
Yeah could well be or direction the controller antenna was facing. Looking at the walking patterns it looks like all reconnects happened while travelling north up the track. Could be coincidence
Chris, @clinkadink , that mass of brambles by where you parked your bag the other day … did you overfly that low to check?
A totally random thought …
- Good line of sight (for Occusync)
- 65m agl
Why a sudden disconnect?
Bird-strike? Buzzard going for a kill?
Could have been a bird or something else getting blown around in the wind colliding with it? Could have been a big gust flipping it over? The superglued leg gave way? Interference from the bad weather?
Flipping is less likely to cause a sudden disconnect.
Impact could dislodge the battery and force a reboot.
Impact, or being grabbed by a big bird, would modify its descent, though, I’m thinking. Not just “free fall and wind”.
@SirGunner heading into those trees.
Are you there now? Good luck mate
Yes mate. Arrived about 20 minutes ago, only to find Dave here too
Fairplay guys hooe it goes well
Sheesh. I’'ve just caught up on this entire thread hoping to find that when I got to the end you’d found it!
Good luck with the current hunt fellas.
I can offer my time tomorrow to help. I’m only an hour away and could do with a day out…Honestly I’d love to help. So let me know…Even if I’m there on my own having a search I’d be happy to.
I also meant to ask whether the DJI flight logs hows different data to the Airsense data you uploaded at the start. Might be worth checking.
Reading through this thread is so inspiring that there are so many community minded people willing to help, it warms my cockles.
Also reading this thread, “I hope he finds it!”
Fingers crossed for you Chris.
Swear in Welsh at the ancients … they are playing with you!
Dave @OzoneVibe and I have had to call it a day. The weather has been good but still windy.
Thanks again Dave
It will return, after a lot more swearing.
