Same with HMS President. They could be playing about with V/UHF, HF or whatever.
Although looking at the screen it does look that HMS President just got in between the drone and the operator.

So I have had a bit of time this evening to look at this properly and I think I can confirm where it has all gone wrong.
Airdata flight record here for anyone that wants to see.
On return I did indeed hit the geozone, which at the time I did not know was there.
These are the final moments, sped up because no one wants to see that drawn out any longer than necessary. I think the confusion of not knowing why it was stopped along with the mild panic from watching the battery slowly trickle down meant that I didn’t even think to try to back up.
The point where the drone actually went down is here, not what is shown in the log. Not sure why there is that much discrepancy or if it is relevant.
I had not looked at the DJI map before flying. Having run into issues with inaccuracies inthe DJI map before and there being countless posts over many FB groups stating that it is unreliable and to use drone assist instead means I had stopped looking at it.
I did of course check drone assist and didn’t see anything there. Looking back at this now I can see that this area does not show as a control zone, a restricted area or even an area of increased risk. It is actually classed as a ground hazard, which I had the filter turned off for as it is a lot of clutter on the map when in London and I had good visibility anyway. But reading the description it seems much more than that. I wonder if it has been miss-categorised on drone assist?
Either way, it looks like I don’t have a leg to stand on and will need to use the DJI care refresh. One to chalk up to experience.
Literally a mirror image of my Airdata when I had that very close call.
However I never had that warning re the RTH failure…
I think it should serve as a valid warning to any hobbyists who haven’t flown at this location yet.
Have submitted the flyaway application. Hoping their reputation holds!
You will get a shiny new drone, no questions asked
Another fault of the flight was the battery was getting low and if you had turned around you could have flown out of the FRZ
Please let us know the outcome. Fingers
I had let it drop to around 30% I think before I started heading back. Won’t believe going below 50% in the future!
Worse than watching THAT scene in Bambi.
Sorry mate but we do love Airdata
Plus you are not the first to lose a drone nor the last I’ve done 2
Have you looked in find my in the fly app on the RC to see if it recorded the decent going into the water ?
Only asking as I had similar problem last year through umm, well stupidity ! I have the recording.
Amen that
Good shout Rich
@Doginabag We also love an end of life vid, please share mate
@Doginabag so you can hopefully have a laugh at my expense here’s mine, hope it’s ok to share.
I’d like to post the song, you are not alone
I didn’t realise it did that. I shall have a look in the morning.
