Additional notes:
Car parking at Penarth Pier Head, short walk across sea lock gates and spillway to location, all level no problems for wheelchair access. Not sure what time the cafes/ice cream shuts. Can be accessed by public transport, bus or train to Cardiff Bay and approx 15 mins walk, or waterbus from Cardiff Pier Head. Good views over the Bay Lagoon, Cardiff and the mountains beyond, Penarth Head & Beach, Severn Estuary (up as far as the bridges if it's clear enough), Bristol Channel/Quantocks/Exmoor, Penarth Harbour within easy walking distance.
Forecast is for hot weather, so bring wide-brimmed hat, cool clothing, sunglasses, and plenty of liquids. Sunset at 21.30 to the northwest, over Penarth Harbour direction.

Sorry can’t make it; I have medical treatment mon.wed, Friday mornings and then sleep. Plus I’m the other end of Wales, a 4 and half hour train ride to Cardiff Central
Didn’t think there’d be any interest, but there’s 2 of you already . Fully understand Edison’s not coming, a 4.5 hour (if it’s on time)schlep by train on a hot day when you are on meds is not recommended! Rest up, mate, and hope things are better soon for you!
I don’t think I’ve seen any meets in South Wales since I joined GADC over a year ago, and there’s been several ‘introductions’ in the area in that time, so I thought this might be worth a punt. All are welcome of course! Looking forward to putting faces to the names…
For those who don’t know the location, there’s plenty of interest and things to film, boats coming in and out of the Barrage sea locks, good views up & down the Severn Estuary/Bristol Channel & the mountains behind Cardiff, and as the high tide will be at 20.42 that evening, there may be big shipping entering or keaving Cardiff Docks as well! If you’re coming by public transport, Cardiff Bus no.6 takes you to the Millenium Centre (opera house) and Penarth Pier Head car park is about a 20 minute walk over the Barrage, the meet location is a little closer.
The location is at the edge of the hazard area for Cardiff Heliport, but this is a mile up the coast and it’s not an FRZ. Most of the flying is over water where it won’t bother anyone!
