Meetup Southampton area (Cheesefoot Head, Winchester) 10am on 30th March 2025

Hi everyone.

I am likely to get my first build ready to fly this weekend.

It would be nice to be with someone for my first fpv flight!

Anyone fancy to meet?

Tagging @group-fpv

It’s a bit of a schlep for me, but I might be down that way for a weekend in a few weeks.

Also tagging @group-southeast

Not that I’m any real help for anything FPV … but might be able to come along for moral support … depending where/when you were hoping to fly.

I’m in Eastleigh and mainly fly FPV. This weekend might be a bit tricky though. Let us know timings etc. Up for a local meet in general though!

Hey !

I was thinking on Sunday morning, weather dependant.

About where to meet, no idea.
Somewhere at the countryside far away from non droning folks

I’ll take a look at the map
Suggestions welcome!

Any update on the Sunday??

Whoop !

Sorry guys I have been really busy this week.
I am looking at the map trying to find a good open space not too far away from Southampton.

As I haven’t been into this thing for long I do not know many drone friendly places

Suggestions please !

Ok I found this place.

It does not seem to be privately owned land and there seems to be where to park close to it:

But not sure if those parking spaces belong to The Potters Heron Hotel?

What do you guys think?

The Potter’s Heron is also a pub so I don’t think it would be an issue parking there. Might just have to buy a drink! I don’t think I’ll be able to make it unfortunately due to family plans but keen for the next one.
That spot looks to be part of Ampfield Wood which Forestry England. FE are famously anti-drone but I don’t know if there are byelaws on that patch specifically.

Can’t do Sunday now as mothers day and got kids and grandkids coming over now, would have loved the peace and quiet to be honest!

Have a look at ‘big ol hill top’ on portsdown hill rd.

I guess it’ll be busy at weekends but the view is decent with lots of space to fiddle

I have flown around Cheesefoot head before without problems. There is a small car park here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fmg78wAZr6RhqYyn8

i am assuming this is cheesefoot head??

i think it inside Southampton CTR but if im correct class d dose not apply to drons???

it looks like @Nikonitis
is based near hear…

this is just up the road from me.. Portsdown hill rd. is quite a large area , where is the sugested location???

Its literally ‘big ol hill top’ on googlemaps

Weird but true

Hey.

That spot in Portsdown looks very nice, but it will probably be busy on Sunday morning.
I’ll follow Ibrou recommendation, but Portsdown goes to my list

I’ll be at Cheesefoot Head on Sunday 10 am, for anyone wanting to join me.

If you are punctual you will have many chances of seeing how I crash my speedybee
I haven’t finish the build btw…It’s is taking longer than I expected
